A Big Weekend at The Sportsman!

We’ve got a full weekend lined up — from quizzes to celebrations, roasts to live music — and we’d love you to join us.

FRIDAY — Quiz Night Returns!
Our ever‑popular quiz night is back this Friday.
It’s free to enter, packed with laughs, and always a great night out.
🍽️ Kitchen open 12–3pm and 5–7pm — booking advised.

SATURDAY — A Special Celebration for Colin Kent
This Saturday we honour our dear friend and much‑loved regular Colin Kent.
From 3pm, we’ll be gathering to celebrate Colin’s life, stories, and the joy he brought to so many.

🎶 From 4–6pm, the brilliant Kelvin Pratt will perform a set of Colin’s favourite songs (and karaoke classics!).
🎤 Then from 8.30, we’ll host a big night of karaoke in Colin’s memory — everyone who knew him is warmly welcome to drop in and share their memories throughout the day.

A buffet will be available throughout the afternoon: please note: our kitchen will therefore be closed on Saturday.

SUNDAY — Roasts & Rock in the Garden
Join us for our legendary Sunday roasts and Summer Picks from 12–4pm.
Then from 4pm, our friends Cuda bring a set of rock classics to the garden — the perfect way to round off the weekend.

There's another big weekend in the offing at the Sportsman!

Kicking off this Friday night, with the return of our hugely popular Rock n Roll Bingo from 8.30pm- come along, enjoy a few rounds of Bingo with a musical twist, enjoy a singalong and maybe even get lucky- cash prizes on offer. Our kitchen is open as ever from 12-3, then again from 5-7pm (last food orders 6.45pm). Booking is highly advisable for this event to avoid disappointment- if you're planning to eat, a reservation is a must as we're already fairly full from 5pm onwards.

If the Bingo has whetted your appetite for belting out the classics, on Saturday we're offering another opportunity to give those pipes an airing with Karaoke from 8.30pm- come to impress, come to laugh, come to cringe- all are welcome. The kitchen's open all day from midday to 6pm- again, drop us a line if you fancy a bite to eat.

Finally, we've got something a bit special for you on Sunday. Our music in the garden continues with a set of New Wave, Mod and Ska classics from the brilliant Heroes - New Wave Tribute Band, from 4-6pm. Why not make an afternoon of it by enjoying one of our roasts beforehand? Or if hot food's not your thing, we're also offering our range of Summer salads, Ploughman's and Cheese and Charcuterie platters. Kitchen open from midday to 4pm- we have a few tables left so now's the time to get in touch to reserve your places.

☀️☀️☀️ Good morning everyone! ☀️☀️☀️

A very quick Hello from us as we're in for a very busy weekend and are busy preparing to welcome you all.

Our kitchen will be *closed* tomorrow, Saturday as we are catering a large party. We're serving until 7pm tonight ahead of the quiz, and will re-open for Father's Day roasts at midday on Sunday, ahead of a fantastic performance from Laura (Keepsake Lily) at 4pm.

In the meantime, we remain open for business tomorrow and we're expecting a large crowd for Karaoke from 8.30pm.

We are more or less fully booked for Sunday roasts. Please do contact us if you would like to be waitlisted, or to discuss one of our very few remaining places (a couple of spaces after 3pm currently available at present).

🎶🎶🎶 A little change of plan for tomorrow! 🎶🎶🎶

Tomorrow's live music will now be provided by the fantastic Sammy Herbie. Those of you who were here last time they played will know we're all in for a real treat 😊

Starting at 4pm until 6pm- don't forget we'll be serving our Summer salads, Ploughman's and Platters alongside our usual roasts, so give us a shout if you'd like to book a table. See you then!

We've got your weekend plans sorted at The Sportsman!

🔥 Friday 8.15pm – Fun Quiz Night! Test your knowledge, win bragging rights and the grudging respect of your fellow competitors, even though wild horses wouldn't get them to admit it. Our kitchen is open until 7pm- let us know ahead of time if you'd like to eat, and we'll hold you a table.

🎶 Saturday 8.30pm – Karaoke! Your moment on the mic awaits. Food served until 6pm.

🍽️ Sunday 12–4pm – Another chance to sample our Proper Sunday Roasts, followed by live music from the incredible Ruby Sansom- booking strongly recommended for this one.

🎯🎯🎯 We have a new date for our darts marathon in aid of Brain Tumour Research- save the date, Saturday 27 June, kicking off at midday and playing right through until the evening. All darts players are more than welcome to come along and join in the fun, supporting this excellent cause 🎯🎯🎯

Friday brings the return of Rock ’n’ Roll Bingo — prizes galore, big singalong energy, and only a few tables left. Drop us a message to reserve yours. Eyes down at 8.30pm, with the kitchen serving until 7pm.

The party rolls into Saturday with our ever‑popular karaoke from 8.30pm. Warm up those vocal cords early — the kitchen’s open until 6pm.

On Sunday, join us from midday for our delicious roasts, summer salads, cheese and charcuterie platters, and hearty Ploughman’s. There’s truly something for everyone.
Then from 4pm, we're delighted to welcome back Mixed Emotions, bringing the perfect soundtrack to close out the weekend in style.
