The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food from our bar and restaurant menus, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Garden cottage is a lovely place to stay. It is in the grounds of Wootton Hall, and is peaceful and secluded in the most beautiful gardens, and views to die for. It has 3 bedrooms, an en-suite shower room and a bathroom. Downstairs it has got a kitchen, dining room, loo and sitting room, and utility room.
There is a beautiful terrace outside to have a drink or dinner and listen to the birds and take in the views.

It is a mile from the pub, so very easy.

A great place for a staycation, we have got a few gaps in the calendar.

This weeks edition of the Country Life features the gardens of Wootton Hall. It is an incredible garden, and has been created in the last 30 years, by our Patron Johnny Greenall, it looks better and better each year.
The gardens are not open to the public, but to private groups by prior appointment. Please email [email protected].

We are delighted to be on the Michelin website with our rooms in Walnut House and The Old Barn and Garden Cottage. Very easy to book, and a great time of year to come. The Gardensare Lush, the local countryside is so inviting to walks and come back relax in the comfort of one of the rooms or cottages and have a properly good dinner!
