Congratulations to our Seniors Treasurer Eddie and his wife Patricia (Pat).
Happy 70th Anniversary. ❤️

Edward and Patricia Po***ck have celebrated seven decades of marriage together after their care home staff rushed to throw them a surprise party 🎊

Edward and Patricia are both 91 and live together at Aspen Court Care Home in Gateshead ❤️

The couple originally tied the knot exactly 70 years ago on June 30, 1956.

Staff at the facility only discovered the massive milestone a few days ago when the couple's daughter-in-law brought it up.

The team quickly pulled out all the stops to organise a surprise party for the pair 🥳

They even arranged a visit from the ceremonial Mayor of Gateshead, Coun Andrea Graham, who joined the wellwishers.

Ahead of the big day, the couple received a special congratulatory card from the King and Queen.

Care home manager Leigh Brown said the staff felt honoured to celebrate with the wonderful couple.

"We're always aware this could be the last place someone calls home and we want it to be as comfortable as possible," she explained.

Congrats both!

Congratulations to Martin McCririck of South Shields Golf Club who beat Nigel Ralph of Tyneside Golf Club by one shot in a tense three hole aggregate playoff.
Both finished on 71, 74 145(+3) total after 36 Holes.
In third place was John Heppell of Brancepeth Castle on 147 and in fourth place on count back was Ian McEntee of South Moor on 148.
This was the second time Martin has won the event.
Bryan Ross Heworth club captain presented Martin with the trophy.

For the first time, we have our Ladies Scratch Open, 18 Holes, taking place alongside the Men's Keith Shivers Bowl. Some of the best Women golfers in Durham taking on today's windy conditions.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jessica Dorrit of Consett & District Golf Club who shot a 72 (-1) to become the first winner of the Heworth Golf Club Ladies Scratch Open. The trophy was presented by Tracey Stuchlik Secretary of HGC Ladies Section.
