🚨SHORT NOTICE FREE PARTY ALERT🚨

Coming up very soon in the Acid Arch, we’re throwing a party. Not just any party, this one is a proper full-on rave, hosted by those professional party monsters, the Lets Go Back Crew. And in the spirit of the infamous parties back in the day, this one is completely free.

As ever, the LGB residents Bosco and Rob Mason are on the bill, backed up by two of our favourite guests who’ve played here with them recently, thee immense Just Rory and Rushford.

Just Rory is a Glasgow-based DJ and producer focusing on house, disco, Italo and beyond. Having played across Scotland, and recently making his international debut, he delivers groove-led sets that move effortlessly between styles, keeping listeners engaged throughout.

Rushford’s sets blend house, techno, disco and Balearic sounds, combining deep grooves, uplifting rhythms and carefully selected records to create journeys that move seamlessly between genres and moods. Whether playing intimate venues or larger dance floors, the focus is always on connection, energy and creating memorable moments through music.

As co-founder of Open Hoose, a grassroots party series in Glasgow, they’ve helped build a welcoming space for music lovers, DJs and artists to come together and celebrate quality underground music.

Any time Let’s Go Back play in here, it’s off the scale, but this one is going to be another level. And it’s free.

Get yrself down and get involved, you know it makes sense.

Let’s Go Back’s Free Party is happening in McChuill’s on Saturday August 8th, from 7pm to midnight. Entry is (obviously) free.

Tomorrow night in the bar, it’s time for the return of the always-immense High Street Funk and Soul Club with resident DJs Paul Molloy & Steven Watt.

As ever, the slightly-dynamic duo will be celebrating the sounds of Funk and very likely Soul too with an emphasis on the contemporary. Well, post-1990, at least. That’s actually the far future if yr Molloy. 🥴

Think Acid Jazz Records, Colemine Records, Freestyle Records, Daptone Records, Record Kicks, Original Gravity, Jalapeno Records and other such labels with a sprinkling of tracks from the classic 60s/70s era of course.

You know the score by now, the lads will be cranking out the floor-fillers and hip-shakers as only they can from 8pm to close and as ever, it’s going to be a party you don’t want to miss. These nights are always mega, so if you’ve not been down already, you really need to do something about that. If you have, we’ll we’ll see you again tomorrow night eh? 🕺

Get yrself doon and get yr groove on, you know it makes sense.

🚨 Merchant City Festival @ McChuill’s 🚨

There’s not many DJs play here that we make sure are booked for another night before they leave the building, but Phil Kieran is something special.

His debut gig here back in February was one of the most unique, mindblowing and flat-out genius sets McChuills has ever seen, hence us going through the diary while he was still playing.

So, once again alongside our comrades Manifesto of Bliss, we are bringing the great man back to the Acid Arch at the start of August.

Belfast-born and raised, Phil is an internationally-respected DJ, producer and screen composer, who is currently spotlighting his Le Carousel alias after a 10-year hiatus with his new album The Humans Will Destroy Us.

As a producer, Kieran has released a long string of revered techno 12”s on labels like Soma Records, Skint, Novamute and Cocoon, before founding his own imprint Phil Kieran Recordings (PKR). He has collaborated with artists such as Green Velvet, Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J. McCarthy, Jochem “Speedy J” Paap and The Bush Tetras. His next collaboration, set for release in 2026 is with Roman Flügel.

Phil’s extensive roll call of remixes includes the likes of Arthur Baker, Depeche Mode, DJ Hell, Inner City, David Holmes, Nitzer Ebb, Agoria, UNKLE and Andrew Weatherall, while his own solo releases currently total more than 80 singles and 6 albums, not including a multitude of others under secret monikers.

Anyone who was here in February will tell you how incredible he was, but if you weren’t there, you absolutely need to make this one. Trust us, it’s going to be something else.

Needless to say, this will be a sellout, so you don’t want to sleep on this one.

Get yrself sorted and we’ll see ye in a couple of weeks.

Phil Kieran is playing McChuills on Saturday August 1st from 7pm-Midnight. Tickets are available now from Skiddle via link in de comments.

We’re having a disco in the bar next weekend. But it’s not any old kind of disco, this one is a bit different. This one is a proper old-school mobile disco… 🪩🕺💃

We’ll let our old pal Billy Kiltie fill you in:

“Losing our jobs as groundsmen after accidentally flooding a tennis court wasn’t exactly part of the plan…but it turned out to be the start of something special. We dusted ourselves off, became mobile DJs, and launched Heatwave Disco, soundtracking parties throughout the 1980s after growing up in Kilmarnock during the Thatcher years.

That journey is brilliantly captured by my friend David Ross in his book Last Days of Disco, which tells the story of a generation, the music that defined it, and the nights that brought people together.

When Nick invited us to bring Heatwave Disco to McChuill’s, there was only one way to do it properly: with the original 7-inch vinyl singles that started it all.

Join us on Friday 31st July for a night of classic vinyl, celebrating the very best soundtrack of the ’80s, with a few unforgettable gems from the ’70s and ’90s thrown in for good measure.

Expect to hear dancefloor favourites from George Benson, Chic, Shalamar and Grace Jones, alongside iconic tracks from Simple Minds, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Waterboys, Madness, The Specials, The Jam, plus classic punk, indie and plenty more. No playlists, no shortcuts- just the original records, played the way they were meant to be heard.”

There ye go. How good does that sound? We’ll see ye next Friday then, eh? 🪩🖤

🚨 Merchant City Festival @ McChuills 🚨

As part of this year’s Merchant City Festival, we are absolutely buzzing to be hosting the first ever McChuill’s Bank Holiday Psyche Fest.

Running all day long, the event has a stellar line-up of both bands and DJs, right from the 1pm kick-off all the way through to the end of the night.

Headliners The Paris Match are a London-based band who blend classic guitar-pop influences with a swinging backbeat, bouncing basslines and piercing saxophone, and have been attracting an ever-growing following in London and Paris’ underground music scenes since their formation in 2024.

Glasgow’s own Supersun are made up of three siblings and a cousin, delivering blood-harmonies in a new Scottish youth scene. Their charming modern psych-pop draws equally from the rhythms of the ‘90s and the melodies of the ‘60s to create something uniquely nostalgic yet radically new.

When Sisters first hit the Liverpool scene with their weepy-ethereal-grunge-rock it didn’t take them long to win over audience members, local press, and promoters. In only one year of being a band they have had their tracks played on BBC radio, headlined Rough Trade, and completed an east coast tour in America.

Known for “neo songs under hazy lighting”, The Violets are an independent four-piece from Glasgow painting a modern colour over the Scottish sound.

Tangled Up In Dylan is a brand new tribute to the music of Bob Dylan, performed by the outrageously talented Clark Gilmour, dipping in and out of the vast catalogue of the Nobel Prize winner, from his folk beginnings all the way through to his electric recordings and beyond.

If all that wasn’t enough, there’s also DJ support from up and coming party monsters Cabbage and two of McChuill’s most psyched-up residents, the immense Neil MacInnes and Robert Kelly.

So get yrself down, make sure yr early and get yr groove on. You know it makes sense.

🚨Merchant City Festival @ McChuill’s🚨

This Saturday sees us welcome back The Frowns easily one of the greatest young bands we’ve had here in McChuills for a long time.

Both gigs they’ve played in here before have blown us all away and been one of the highlights of the year and we expect this one to be no different.

This will be another sellout, so we strongly recommend grabbing one of the last tickets as this lot are really something special, as anyone who has seen them here before will attest. Trust us, at some point in the not-too distant future, folk will be bragging that they saw The Frowns in McChuill’s. Don’t be left out.

If yr out tonight, either here for Lets Go Back’s Sunday Soundclash Rave, or somewhere else (a mental idea, but you do you), we strongly recommend you keep the party going and head round to Chinaski’s.

Why? Cos our good mate and resident ambience enforcer Bonzai Bonner is hosting what’ll be the best night in the toon there, with the second part of SHOOT YOUR SHOT’s Pride weekender!

The lineup is absolutely mega, with The xx’s Romy stepping in as a last-minute headliner (Ooft 😍), as well as thee-always amazing LEZZER QUEST and Vic Lentaigne so it’ll be hot, sweaty and off the scale party vibes from the off.

Trust us, these nights are always immense and this one promises to be something really special. You should go. You’ll love it. We’ll see ye there, aye? 🕺💃🪩
