The Cavern is our quirky, one-of-a-kind coffee shop and live music venue which is open to all throughout the week! We're located near Gloucester Cathedral (on College Street) and are a safe place to meet friends, play board games, enjoy fantastic live music, and catch up with a friendly face. The Cavern gives work experience opportunities to vulnerable and disadvantaged people. We aim to get peopl

e back into paid work, improve skills and confidence as part of the Kingfisher Treasure Seekers group. We also host a Support at the Cavern session every evening from 6pm-11pm which is for anyone who wants a safe place to come and chat about mental health. Our other weekly events include Open Mic night, games nights, band nights and karaoke on a Sunday. We look forward to meeting you, come in and see us! Also every coffee you buy helps fund the work we do for people in Gloucester so if you are after a coffee for your conscience you know where we are!

Today, 27th June, is PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) awareness day ☀️

PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Today provides an opportunity to increase understanding and encourage those affected to seek support and treatment.

Post traumatic stress disorder can affect those of all ages and backgrounds, including veterans, emergency service personnel, survivors of abuse, accidents and other traumatic incidents. At the cavern we aim to provide education, promote empathy and open conversations about mental health Illness. We want communities to recognise the challenges faced by those living with PTSD and highlight the importance of accessible mental health support. ☀️

How can we support individuals living with PTSD?

* educate yourself and challenge common misconceptions
* listen without judgement and respect personal experiences.
* encourage people to seek professional support
* promote inclusive, safe and supportive environments
* check in regularly with friends, family and colleagues who may be struggling
* support local mental health charities, services and awareness campaigns ☀️

We are all making the most of the sun today at the cavern! ☀️🕶️

It’s a lovely day and we want you to enjoy the sunshine as much and as safely as possible ☀️

This post is a friendly reminder while spending time outdoors can benefit our physical and mental wellbeing, it’s important to stay safe during long periods of hot weather. PLEASE remember to drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day. Check in with those who may be more vulnerable to the heat and support those experiencing any symptoms of heat exhaustion or heatstroke. 🌻

By taking simple precautions we can all enjoy sunshine safely and responsibly ☀️🌇👒

If you are struggling with lack of access to Water and sunscreen, free water is offered in MOST places, in the cavern we can give you sunscreen and water 🚿

Did you know that we have an incredible training program for our volunteers? 🤯

As well as the ability to give back to the community, participate in team socials and enjoy a discount on our delicious food and drink, we also offer a training program!🥳🥳

This includes skills around customer service, using a till and general cash handling, and full barista training! ☕️

Hi all, due to the heatwave next week (currently looking like highs of 39 degrees 🥵🔥😱) we are making some tweaks to our operations.

We will be providing a reduced menu to ensure our kitchen team aren’t cooking themselves! 🥪🥗

We will be focusing on the back room seating area for customers as we have air conditioning ❄️ there, which means some of our regular bookings may be cancelled to ensure we have space.

We will continue to provide ice cold water and sun cream. ❄️🧊

Please be aware of the impact of heat on each other, it can affect our moods, it can also effect things like medications, so please stay safe and also be kind! ❤️

🙏If you would like to donate some caps, sun cream and water bottles for our community to stay safe in this heat any donation would be appreciated!! 🙏
