🐕🦺 Nervous Dogs Social Session with a Dog Trainer 🦮
📅 Sunday 21st June
⏰ 1:30pm
📍 Posh Paws Bakery & Adventure Park, Fletchers Farm, Little Ayton, TS9 6HZ
We’re excited to be collaborating once again with our experienced dog trainer, Canine Connections Teesside, to run our next small, supportive social session designed especially for anxious or nervous dogs 🤍
Joe (the experienced dog trainer) will be there to help host the session to make sure all dogs and owners are comfortable. He will also be on hand to offer any advise to help you in your dogs journey. I (Louise) too will be onsite to host and oversee as well as help you and your pup by discussing next steps and what we might be able to offer you both with in the near future 🐾
🙋♀️ Why we’re doing this
So many of you have spoken to us about dogs who want to socialise but find large, busy groups overwhelming. Throwing nervous dogs straight into a big pack can do more harm than good — and we don’t want that.
This session is about creating a calm, controlled space where dogs can build confidence at their own pace. We’ll guide the session, and Joe, will be in the field with you at all times to give advise, but it will very much be led by you and your dog’s comfort levels.
🦮 How the session will run
• Maximum of 6 dogs per field to keep things calm and manageable (12 spaces in total)
• First 15 minutes: All dogs stay on lead, walking the field with their owners while keeping a comfortable distance from other dogs
• Next 15 minutes: If dogs are relaxed, they can choose to greet each other at a closer passing distance
• Final stage: If everyone — dogs and humans — is happy and relaxed, dogs can come off lead to greet and play freely with others like them (after they’ve realised they’re safe, of course!)
• To confirm, any aggressive dogs will not be permitted. Anxious dogs are often “reactive” but if this includes becoming a danger, this class isn’t for them
🌳 Why our space works so well
Our field is fully enclosed, so if your dog’s instinct is to flee when anxious, you can relax knowing they’re safe and secure if you reach the off-lead stage.
🐾 What if my dog isn’t ready?
That’s completely okay. Progress isn’t linear, and not everything works first time.
If at any point you don’t feel comfortable letting your dog off lead, you can leave the group session before that stage and discuss the best next steps with our trainer.
