Rebel Monkey Coffee House is on the lookout for an experienced, passionate barista to join our team on a part-time basis.

We’re an independent coffee house that takes pride in quality coffee, genuine customer connections with a welcoming atmosphere and we’re looking for someone who shares that energy.

What we’re looking for:
* Previous barista experience (required)
* Confident in dialling in espresso and maintaining consistency(preferred)
* Friendly, reliable, and great with customers
* Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently
* Willingness to take on key holder responsibilities (opening/closing shifts, cash handling, responsibility for the shop)

What you’ll be doing:
* Preparing high-quality coffee and drinks
* Delivering excellent customer service
* Opening and/or closing the shop as a key holder
* Maintaining cleanliness and organisation as well as documenting daily checks in accordance with laws and regulations
* Supporting the team and taking responsibility for supervisor tasks whilst on shift

Wow what a weekend at Harwich Triathlon, we are so pleased that they asked us to join them… we served a total of 443 drinks over the weekend, had queues going on for what seemed like miles, our team worked tirelessly despite some very challenging moments with the generator and electric, but we over come every obstacle thrown at us and had the best time, serving the best crowd…. We can not wait to do it all again next year!!

🐵 Monkey News 🐵

As you are aware we pride ourselves on being open 7 days a week and today, we couldn’t have been more proud of our team for keeping the shop open whilst also running our first ever pop up event! 💥

But due to the overwhelming support we are having to call in all the troops for Day 2 of the 🫡

Which means we have made the decision to close the shop tomorrow (Sunday 14th) as a result of the high volume of thirsty athletes and fans from today!

But don’t worry! We’ll be back at 7am Monday morning to resume our regular schedule 👍🏻

Today was a day!! We did day 1 of our first ever pop up event for Rebel monkey at Harwich Triathlon,…. The day went like this…. Arrived on site at 5am, set up our coffee pop up, fired up the generator to run the coffee machine and it lasted about 5 minuets and kept cutting out…. This was a real squeaky bum time for all of us… we had invested a lot of time and money into this event and it was looking like it was going to be a complete disaster….. we were all trying to find a solution, on our phones, asking to borrow this that and another then…… Noah Sherring who have been a complete hero this week in more ways than 1… says “right clacton tool hire have a much bigger generator… we can pick it up now” so me and him jump in his van and headed off… just over a hour later we return with the mother of all generators… run it up and over the hill (with the help of Aaron) fire her up, and we are off… 10 minuets for the coffee machine to heat up and BOOM… we are in business… by 10:30 we were full steam ahead and supplying the good people with the best coffee!!

We gave out a total of 220 free bananas thanks to our fabulous monkeys Aaron Mills and Violet Mills who really went all out and had the best fun!!

Special shout out to Alfie Heath and Ruby Raffle who kept the orders flowing and the till ringing!

Now……. The main man of the business, our genius behind the coffee machine, the coffee guru himself.. Luke Gillett…. His hard work and planning really has made doing things like this seem easy (for me as the owner) but not for him!!! He really has been the mastermind behind the whole thing and for that I’m eternally grateful…

Tomorrow is day 2 of the event.. we have decided to close the coffee shop for the day to bring down so we have 2 masters of the machine….

We can’t wait for day 2 without the generator stress we had this morning… bring it in, up the monkeys!!

🍌 Day 1 completed at the and boy was it one to remember! ☕️

First of all we would like to say thank you for all of the support and kind words throughout the day, it was amazing to see so many of us out supporting such a great event! 🏃‍♂️

As many of you know we did suffer some technical difficulties in the morning (our generator powering the coffee machine cutting out every 5 minutes 🤬) but we pushed through and got a bigger and better one running in a couple hours! 👌🏻 so thank you all for your patience and understanding whilst we sorted that out 🙏🏻

For our first day at our first ever pop up event we couldn’t be more proud of the team we have as well as a very special thank you to all the volunteers helping out! 🐵🍌

We will be up and out at 5am tomorrow to get set up for day 2 (hopefully a lot smoother than today’s demonstration 😂) so pop over and say hello, grab a drink and a free badge. You can find us near the start/finish line but failing that, just look for the monkey handing out bananas! 🍌😂
