Happy Birthday to the legend that is Raymondo… 🥳🎂
Today he turned 78. ❤️
To most people, he’s just “Ellie’s husband”…
To me, he’s my business partner, my sounding board, my engineer, my chief baker, my delivery driver and the person who somehow manages to turn my random “I’ve got an idea…” moments into reality 🤣
People often think I make every cake from start to finish, but the truth is EM wouldn’t be what it is today without Ray.
Whilst I’m decorating and trying to juggle another hundred jobs, he’s usually in the kitchen baking sponge after sponge, the one sorting all the edible toppers and the one figuring out how on earth we’re going to make some of my crazy ideas actually stand up 😂
And when I announce that I fancy making a car… or a tank… or a tractor… he’s already searching for blueprints before I’ve even finished my sentence 🤣
He’s also the calm one and grounds me when I’m stressing and have got too much on.
He’s always the one that says, “It’ll be alright.” And somehow… it always is. 💜
At 78 years old he still absolutely loves being involved. I honestly think if I told him to retire, he’d be back at EMHQ the next morning asking what needed baking!
Today was special for another reason too…
Benji Birch made his very first solo batch of birthday cupcakes for his Dad. I only stepped in to help him with his buttercream piping, everything else was 100% him.
I don’t think we could have been any prouder. 🥹
Then this morning one of his other sons Jonathan, who lives over in Vietnam, sent his Dad this brilliant picture before FaceTiming.
Jonathan knows him soooo well and managed to get AI to know Ray quite well too… I think I may even have to get that “Kitchen Bitch” apron made! 😜
So today isn’t really about cake…
Although, true to form, the ovens were on first thing this morning because we’ve got another four wedding cakes to get out this week and he wouldn’t let me near the bbq for his impromptu party!
Today is about saying thank you, for everything you do but more than anything…
Thank you for believing in me, especially on the days I don’t believe in myself.
Happy Birthday, Ray.
We all love you more than you’ll ever know. ❤️
