Our Story
Our names are David and Alexis Morris, we both originate from a Travelling Showman background around Gloucestershire and surrounding areas. We have both been serving the Great British public for many years now travelling to different fair grounds and festivals. Hereford has always been a travelling destination for us as both of our families have attended Hereford May Fair for 4 generations or more.
We got married in the winter of 2012, and in that short time together we have built and maintained an excellent small catering business with both long standing and loyal customers. Within our catering units we serve a variety of hot food, hot and cold drinks including slush, doughnuts, sweets and candy floss. As well as managing to have 3 children along the way...Maxwell, Sienna and Ava who will play an important part in the business being the future bosses!
Back in 2017 life as we once knew it changed when our son Maxwell was diagnosed with Autism. We made the big decision to change our lifestyle of travelling to a more grounded one only travelling to very few funfairs mainly during school holidays to give Maxwell and our girls a stable education. With this decision meant we started to consider a more permanent business close to home which is how we came across Café Alfresco as it was then. After a few months of discussions and meetings with various people including Herefordshire Council we took over Café Alfresco in September 2018 hoping to create both a successful and inviting café for the lovely people of Hereford to come to!
We plan on making many different positive changes to the business which started with the name. Maxwell is only 6 years old but has overcome so many different obstacles in his little life so far and he continues to amaze and surprise us every single day which is why we made the decision to name the business after him and felt it was only fitting him being our eldest too. The National Autistic Society is a charity close to our hearts and we plan on making a close link with them to raise funds to help other families just like ours. We are a very tight and close family which will reflect on the business, our children will play a big part in the day to day running, especially in school holidays! We are looking forward to seeing what the future has for Maxwells Café Ltd and cannot wait to get the lovely people of Hereford behind us!
