Suddenly its July, school holidays and work holidays are here. Long light evenings are made for garden time, drinking cold things and adventures in ice cream. Our veg garden, always planted with a healthy optimism has yielded pounds of blackcurrants and gooseberries this year, which have been turned into a few precious jars of jam. Strawberries are coming next but its a battle with the birds for them...
..courgettes are a constant in our summer garden and kitchen, and almost always cooked in the same way. Braised with lots of good olive oil, tomatoes and garlic they are perfection - eaten hot with a piece of fried fish, or with an egg on top - or cold from the fridge. The only possible improvement is a dollop of good creme fraiche.

We've popped the courgettes on our summer menus too - paired with crushed comber potatoes and roast Irish chicken breast for an easy main course. Trust me on the creme fraiche.

Morning all! Its time to order something lovely to enjoy over the weekend. Its the last chance to catch our June menus, as its our last week of boxes for a little while. We'll be taking a break for some R&R in the sunshine, but we will be back with lovely new summer menus from 24th July 😎⁠

Hello! Here we are with new summer menus and (although I'm admittedly heavily biased) - I am thrilled. They are bursting with squillions of summer produce - nectarines, peaches, tomatoes, courgettes, summer herbs and not forgetting our wonderful Comber Earlies. The first new season potatoes in these parts, and with Protected Geographical Indication, Comber Earlies are thin skinned, nutty and floury, and pair perfectly with our fabulous Irish butter...⁠

Oh hello. Its the last chance to order for delivery this Friday.
The more eagle eyed of you might also have noticed that we have one more week of this menu - on the 3rd July. After that we'll take a break for 2 weeks before we come back with some super shiny new menus for July and August. Keep an eye out for those this weekend XX

An easy breezy summer recipe this weekend for our email subscribers. ⁠
We use this lovely asparagus tart in our delivery menus and also for lots of catered buffets. It is quick to throw together and is endlessly adaptable - once the asparagus season ends in a week or two, switch in courgettes, (quartered lengthwise) or even baby leeks. Equally, if you aren't a goats cheese kind of person, use something local and lovely, or whatever you have hanging around. Always very happy when eating this, especially with a tomato salad on the side 🍅
