Specials and Sunday Roasts Delightfully unpretentious with local ales, simple, honest food and no modern intrusions. Popular with a wide mix of customers; cyclists, walkers with their dogs and families, this is an unspoilt local tucked away in the woods. Tastefully restored a
nd reopened in November 2022, the cosy and unchanging rooms are simply furnished around log fires. Famous for its local ales - Nethergate Viper VIPA and Mighty Oak Jake the Snake (both brewed for the pub) and Oscar Wilde, and a couple of quickly changing guests from brewers such as Crouch Vale and Mr Grundys on handpump and Westons Scrumpy and Perry. Live bands play during the very popular beer festivals, held at late May and August Bank Holiday Weekends and Morris Men sometimes dance outside. Now open everyday day for homemade food, a wide choice is shown on the chalk boards. At lunch time you can choose from sandwiches, lite bites, mains and desserts. In the evening you can enjoy tasty food from the main menu or lite bites, depending on your appetite. A special menu, including roasts is available on a Sunday.
