The Village Fryer event catering company The Spit 'n' Crackle is a family run business in the heart of the lakes. No party is too big or too small for The Spit 'n' Crackle!

Unlike most companies that just pop up and provide a generic service, The Spit 'n' Crackle has developed from the ideas of a young lad who learnt his trade as a chef in one of the Lake District pubs. The other side of the family business has seen a farmer’s daughter grow up at the centre of the action, key to spotting what makes a good ingredient and also making sure that any produce has been care

d for by like-minded people. Our business is driven by passionate people who take pride in using the best local produce and who take pride in customer satisfaction. Whatever your special event may be, The Spit 'n' Crackle would like to be a part of it and will not only provide you with the very best tasting ingredients to get your guests talking, but we will accommodate whatever your requirements may be. Each package is bespoke, so go ahead, let your imagination run wild! We have three purpose-built catering units where food can be cooked, prepared and served from at events. Any kind of party can be catered for, including wedding breakfasts, hog roasts, BBQs, corporate days, show catering, buffets, christenings, afternoon tea…. You name it, we can provide it! Rest assured, The Spit 'n' Crackle can provide you with a top quality service. All staff are trained in food hygiene, and we have been awarded 5 stars 'excellent' by the local Environmental Health Department.

Just a little update from The Village Fryer 🐟🍟

Firstly, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone in Dent for your support over the years. It's been a pleasure serving the village on the first Friday of the month.

Due to holidays and a few personal commitments for the rest of this year, we've decided to pause our regular first Friday visit to Dent rather than cancel several dates.

For the remainder of the year, we'll be using some of those first Fridays to visit new villages, caravan parks and other pop-up locations, so keep an eye on our page as we'll announce these as they're confirmed.

If you run or know of a caravan park, holiday park, static caravan site or large touring park that's looking for a quality fish and chip van to visit, we'd love to hear from you. We may be able to fit a pop-up visit into our schedule, so please get in touch.

This isn't goodbye to Dent forever – it's simply a change to our schedule for now, and we hope to review things again next year.

🐟 The Village Fryer is in Hornby today! 🍟

We'll be serving from 4:30pm until 7:15pm (last orders), and we've got something a little bit special for you today.

I've gone and bought some absolutely beautiful 6–8oz line-caught cod fillets... and I think I may have been a little bit mad because they cost an absolute fortune! 🤦‍♂️

The good news is Hornby gets the benefit! These premium line-caught cod fillets are thick, flaky, beautifully white and full of flavour. They're fantastic to cook and even better to eat – and we're keeping our prices exactly the same.

So you can enjoy a premium line-caught cod and chips from just £8.90 – incredible value for such a high-quality fish.
