This week we thought we'd share something we don't often shout about enough – what Greedy Gordons has been doing to support our local communities.
We're incredibly proud to be part of so many wonderful villages, and we truly believe that pubs, restaurants and local businesses should be at the heart of their communities. Over the last 10 days alone, here's some of what we've been involved in:
📍 **Grafton Underwood – Breakfast by the Brook**
We're supplying all the sausages, bacon, eggs and black pudding for this fantastic event to help raise even more money for the village.
🚗 **Gears on the Green, Cranford – This Sunday**
For the fourth year running (possibly more!), we've paid for the event's public liability insurance and donated vouchers for the raffle. All money raised goes towards young people's mental health charities.
🎟️ **Local Charity Fundraiser**
My economics teacher from school, Paul Doran, whom I haven't forgotten after more than 40 years, is supporting a local charity event and we've donated a voucher to help raise funds for the cause.
🎉 **Lowick Party in the Park – This Saturday from 2pm**
A brilliant local event – if you can get there, please do! We've donated a raffle voucher and supplied sliced onions free of charge for the BBQ.
🍛 **Home-Start Kettering**
Last Tuesday we cooked and supplied 10 local families with chicken curry, rice and naan, complete with cooking instructions and guidance on portioning and freezing meals.
This project is now taking another exciting step forward. We're teaming up with **Corby Catering College** – where I learned to cook many years ago – to create YouTube videos for families, covering:
✅ Creative meal ideas
✅ Budget-friendly shopping tips
✅ Batch cooking
✅ Freezing and storing food
✅ Healthy cooking on a budget
We hope this will help families make their money go further and build confidence in the kitchen.
🚒 **Geddington – My Home Village for 50 Years**
The mighty Geddington Fire Brigade does so much for the village and wider community. Following the refurbishment of The Red Lion, we've donated furniture from the project to their clubhouse bar and social club.
We're not posting this to sing our own praises. We're sharing it because this is what community hubs should do. We believe in giving back and supporting the people and places that support us.
