Our shaping bay has been fitted out into a skate, surf and all things Outside shop, stocking a curated mix of local makers and further afield brands, from vinyl and ceramics to zines, books, clothing, sunglasses, gifts, cards and jewellery. The shop is open when the cafe is open, come and say hello or just pop in and stroke the nice new boards. And worry not, the shaping bay will be back soon! Featuring .studio

Happy Birthday ! 🕯️ and here’s a present for the rest of us 🤘 We can’t wait to welcome him to Outside on Thursday 30th July 📿

Steve Gunn has sat at the forefront of American experimental and guitar-driven rock for over a decade. After first gaining attention with Kurt Vile’s backing band, The Violators, he carved out a singular solo path with a trio of acclaimed releases on most recently Daylight, Daylight produced by longtime collaborator James Elkington. Shaped by the spirit of Robbie Basho, Mark Hollis, Michael Chapman and John Fahey, Gunn’s sound is both expansive and transportive.

Feeling blessed! 🧚🏼 One of our all time favourites Katy J Pearson is heading to Outside on Wednesday 10th June for a solo, stripped-back show with support from Jimmy Means S**t!

Described as a ‘pop singer-songwriter for the modern catastrophic age’ her music blends folk, country, and classic influences. These past couple of years have been big for KJP — from releasing her latest record ‘Someday, Now’ to playing The Park Stage at Glastonbury Festivals last summer, performing at the Minnack Theatre, going out on the road with The Last Dinner Party and most recently supporting CMAT! Phwoooar! ❤️‍🔥

Outsiders! 🌀 The incredible Lael Neale is heading to Bantham this August 21st, stopping off en-route to Green Man Festival 🌲

Drawing from the Transcendentalists, American gospel, and inspiration that runs from Dionne Warwick to John Lennon, Lael Neale’s music sits somewhere between drone pop, folk, and something more otherworldly. Her music has taken her across the world with Guy Blakeslee, including sold-out shows in Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris, and a run supporting kindred spirit Weyes Blood.

After closing the much loved in Totnes last year, Yoshi and her team are returning to the kitchen at Outside on Wednesday 15th April for a Feast Night!

An izakaya (居酒屋) is the Japanese equivalent of a neighbourhood pub, a place to stay, eat, drink and unwind. The word itself comes from i (to stay) and sakaya (sake shop). The menu will be casual, social, and built around bold flavours, dishes made to share, best enjoyed with beer or sake! Tickets are £55 and limited! From his widely praised debut ‘Your Hero Is Not Dead’ his music has evolved in surprising and beautiful ways from sophisticated art-pop, into something more expansive and intimate. His latest album, ‘A Jackal’s Wedding ‘was recorded only at night on the Greek island of Hydra with producer (Björk, The xx, Sampha, English Teacher), the album takes its name from a folkloric term for a sunshower, a strange and beautiful contradiction that mirrors the record’s themes of motion, change, and surreal clarity 🌀
