🚨 PAWADVISOR ALERT 🚨
We’ve just discovered a rather unflattering review left anonymously on PawAdvisor… 🐾😳
Apparently our beef “isn’t that great” and should be “given to the dogs outside.”
Needless to say, we’re absolutely devastated… 😭
So tonight, I investigating exactly who left this shocking review. The culprit may or may not be a certain golden retriever known only as The Furry One… 👀🐶
For the record, our 32-day aged Sirloin, Porterhouse, Rump and Fillet steaks are intended for paying customers, not hungry dogs lurking outside the front door waiting for samples! 🥩😂

As a small family-run restaurant, established by Pappa Florou in 1964, we are incredibly grateful for your continued support. As many of you know, The Lantern has proudly served Hull since 1964. Like thousands of independent restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels across the UK, we are facing ever-increasing costs while trying to keep prices fair and continue offering the quality, service and experience our customers deserve.

A nationwide campaign is now calling for VAT on hospitality to be reduced from 20% to 10%, helping businesses invest, protect jobs, support suppliers and remain a vital part of our communities.

Hospitality isn’t just about food and drink. It’s about people, families, livelihoods, celebrations, memories and bringing communities together.

🚨 Hospitality is under pressure – and now the industry is uniting behind one clear message.

Chef Tom Kerridge is backing a new nationwide campaign calling for VAT on hospitality to be reduced from 20% to 10%, arguing it could provide vital breathing space for restaurants, pubs, hotels and cafés across the UK.

Speaking to The Staff Canteen, Tom said the campaign is about giving businesses the opportunity to survive, invest and grow, with hospitality venues currently closing at a rate of three per day.

The petition has set an ambitious target of one million signatures, with operators, suppliers, producers and customers all being encouraged to get behind the movement.
