December 24th 2025, 10 and half years after you both opened cupcakes doors on Kirkcaldy high street, we bid farewell to a community coffee shop like no other.. Tomorrow is all about you and what your family has brought to many in our community, so it’s our turn to celebrate and thank you..

On a personal note, I can’t thank you enough for the trust and loyalty you have shown to me over the 9 and a half years working for you both and the family, it’s become my family I will cherish the highs, the lows, the final tears and the final glows.. thank you for everything and tomorrow is all about you

We would just like to take this opportunity to thank every single customer that’s walked through the doors over the last 10 and half years, it’s been fantastic, from the highs to the lows, theirs been tears and glows, we couldn’t have done it without you, from the breakfast club in the morning, Rod, Raymond ( former member of staff ) to the ladies of the night, to Mr Penmans gang and the afternoon regulars, everyone single one of you have brought joy and life to the coffee shop every single day..

Christmas Eve is before us, let’s finish with a bang and enjoy a cuppa one last time ☕️❤️

From a man and his van, to the kiosk on the platform, it was time to open our first shop

In July 2015, Cupcake coffee box opened its doors on Kirkcaldy high street, inside the old Mcdonals building, which started off with 15 seats, it was quickly become a popular destination on the highstreet and was in need of more seats to accommodate the demand. Late summer, early autumn the coffee box lounge was introduced ( the original sign remains on the front counter ) which expanded the capacity and gave a much more homely feel to customers, even then the demand was so high the lounge was constantly full which led to taking over the front shop which was once utilised by the farm shop.. utilising the entire bottom floor of a 4 storey building alowed us to extend what we offered, introducing our alcohol licence and opening up the coffee shop to night time trade with open mic nights, quiz nights and the rather enjoyable wine and gin nights, which were always accompanied by the most amazing of cheese boards.. The shop hosted a wedding reception for our dear loyal customers living much nearer the equator now days in sunny Devon and it’s hosted many of birthday parties over the years, the coffee shop was certainly at its peak.

After what was a successful 5 years, the 2020 pandemic hit, which has destroyed family businesses all over the country and deprived us of normality. To see a decreased in capacity in the coffee shop was challenging but as always the shop pulled through and continued in to its modern era today

Over 3800 days have past, we are now down to our last 2 days at cupcake..A reminder to everyone, we are only open from 8...

First of the Cupcake coffee flash backs

It all started with a man and his van outside Kirkcaldy train station every morning for those early risers catching the first train in the morning, then continued with the coffee box box on platform 1 which is still there today ( not sure if it’s opened again ). I’m sure the one thing that won’t be missed is waiting for the heater to warm the box up on those cold winter mornings, however, to witness those sunrises woild have put a smile to the face

Tables are set, spuds and sprouts peeled, turkey is stuffed and Jason is wearing a Christmas cardigan. I think we are ready for our Christmas party today 12-3, the coffee shop is open as normal however with reduced capacity 🍾🥂 🎅🏼

Today also marks the last full day. From tomorrow ( Saturday 20th December ) we are reducing our hours to 8 am until 12 noon, with a reduced menu right up until 12noon on Christmas Eve..

Preparations are well underway for our Christmas dinner tomorrow afternoon.. we will be closing today at 3pm to finish preparing for tomorrow

over the next 2 days we will have limited space. 

It’s also last day to get your raffle tickets, available at the till all day today with the draw to come later

And now the end is near and so we face the final curtian 🎵 🎶

Today ( Saturday 13th December ) marks the start of our last full week, We want to announce from Saturday 20th up till Christmas Eve ( including Sunday 21st ) we will be reducing our opening hours to 8am until midday. As we enter our final days we will be reducing what we offer as we run down the stock to bare minimum..

It’s going to be an emotional farewell but we are going to go out with a bang and enjoy the last few days
