Whitelock’s Ale House

Whitelock’s Ale House Legendary Leeds pub est. 1715. Described by John Betjeman as "the very heart of Leeds" Whitelock's is the oldest pub in Leeds.
(1824)

Originally opened as The Turk's Head in 1715, it was renamed in the 1880s by then owner John Lupton Whitelock as Whitelock's First City Luncheon Bar. Under new ownership since May 2012, we have preserved the rich history and charm that has always been the cornerstone of Whitelock’s, while infusing it with new life and and our passion for great service, food and drink. We serve a wide selection of

real ale and craft beers – many from Yorkshire breweries – alongside a menu of fresh, home-cooked and locally sourced food available seven days a week.

This week, we headed over to in Morley. Home to a cosy taproom and a brewery producing everything from easy drinking pale ales to rich, full bodied stouts.

We caught up with Simon to chat about the brewery, the beers they’ll be bringing to the festival, and what life looks like at Truth Hurts.

A big thank you to Simon and the team for showing us around and making us feel so welcome.

Just 2 days until our annual beer festival kicks off! We’ll be sharing the beer list tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled 👀

Ahead of Beer Fest, we’ve been getting out and meeting some of the people behind the beer!

First up, Marcos from Piglove Brewing Co.

What started as a Venezuelan expression became the name of a much loved Yorkshire brewery, with beers that blend a love of British brewing with flavours and ingredients from across Latin America.

Marcos was kind enough to show us around the brewery and talk us through the story behind Piglove, the wonderful beers you’ll find at the festival, and why there’s so much excitement about in the local beer scene right now.

Just over a week until the festival kicks off!
