Two years ago, we opened The Central Pub with a dream. We wanted to bring back the vibrant pub culture Leigh used to thrive on reminiscent of the good old days at The Globe and create a space the town truly needed. In the beginning, the feedback was incredible, and we felt so welcomed.
To keep our prices as low as possible for you, we’ve put everything on the line. For two years, it has been a one-man show with no holidays, no family time, and zero personal income. Every penny has come from family savings and working night shifts just to keep the doors open and the beer flowing. We viewed the World Cup as our big opportunity to turn things around, but unfortunately, the turnout wasn't what we needed to survive.
We love this town, but we are now at a critical crossroads and need to hear from you.
We Want Your Thoughts & Opinions
We see a lot of passionate comments online about saving local landmarks like the Red Lion—and preventing them from being turned into housing. But the reality is that running a live, open pub requires active community support. If local businesses aren't supported, town centres naturally shift toward v**e shops, charities, and housing development because landowners simply cannot afford to keep buildings empty.
