We're looking for a Liskeard Library Volunteer & Activity Coordinator!

The volunteer coordinator is a key member of the Real Ideas Pathways team, responsible for building and sustaining a thriving volunteer programme at Liskeard Library. This role leads on the recruitment, induction, training and day-to-day management of volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and empowered to make a meaningful contribution to the library and the wider community.

Hours: 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE) Hours to be worked flexibly including evenings & weekends to suit the needs of the business/ team.

Salary: 25,500 pro rata (£10,200 p/a)

Congrats Kelly Sturrock !

You have won one of the most prestigious competitions in Liskeard 😎 Well done on coming up with "Smeagull" as our winning name for our most recent Liskeard library family member, our baby seagull!

We collected our favourites and put the them to a vote on our stories across Facebook and Instagram with Smeagull taking first with 60% of the vote, Gulliver in second with 35% and Virginia Gullf grabbing third with 5%

📍 Venue Spotlight: Liskeard Library

A space with books and coffee under one roof and I’m already sold ☕📚 But Liskeard Library was a new find for me, and it really is so much more than “just a library” (and I say that as someone who loves libraries!).

Liskeard Library is much more than somewhere to borrow books - it’s a vibrant community hub blending books, learning, creativity, co-working and connection, all with such a warm local welcome.

Their café is wonderful, and I can of course vouch for the coffee. But there are also cakes and light lunches made using ingredients from local suppliers. And they have a dedicated children’s menu 💚

And the events! I thought coffee and books were the pinnacle… but apparently not 😂 From quizzes and wine tastings to open mic nights and craft markets, alongside Rhymetime sessions and child health drop-in clinics, theres even a bank!! There really is something for everyone.

It’s such a welcoming community space with so many opportunities for families and people of all ages - definitely worth a visit!
