A glimpse into the history of The Warehouse.
Originally built as the local Farmers’ Cooperative, the building played an important role in the agricultural life of the community, providing a place for local farmers to bring, store and trade their goods.
One of its most fascinating original features is the covered cart entrance, where horses would back their carts directly into the building. This allowed produce to be unloaded under shelter, protecting it from the Welsh weather before being stored inside.
These photographs also show some of the restoration work we carried out, helping to preserve the character and history of this much-loved building for future generations.
Today, The Warehouse is home to Dinefwr Blankets across three floors. The top floor houses our workshop, where the blankets are cut and sewn into a range of products. On the ground floor, you’ll find our collection of Welsh blankets and woollen homewares, while the basement is home to a small exhibition space, where you can explore the history of Welsh blankets and the heritage of the building itself.
Whether you’re discovering the building for the first time or returning for another visit, we hope you’ll enjoy exploring its rich history and craftsmanship!
