We all know I LOVE a challenge, so when we received a call Sunday afternoon asking for a cake for Wednesday morning, I absolutely hopped on that chance!

Dare Global celebrated their 10th anniversary with this 4 tier beast of a cake!
Lemon 6 inch, red velvet 8 inch, chocolate fudge 10 inch, and vanilla 12 inch cakes were baked, filled, ganached, and finished, in just 2 days.
Ok, so I didn’t sleep from Sunday morning until Wednesday evening, but it was very much mission accomplished!
I also managed to source a black acrylic plinth for it to be displayed on, AND made it light up tor the occasion!

We partnered with the AWESOME James from FOG Creative - Laser Engraving, and he engraved a cutting knife, AND cake serving slice, AND managed to hand deliver it to me in time too!
James, you’re a SUPERSTAR!!! As always, absolutely immaculate work. Full 5 stars from me!

Partnerships and collaborations between businesses is so incredibly valuable, and a big shout out needs to go to Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce. Without them, I would never have met all these amazing small business owners, or have the opportunity to work alongside them. 🫶🏻

This has to be my favourite cake from last week!

Abi asked for a fairy themed cake with elements of purple for her 10th birthday, and I REALLY wanted free rein with the design.
When she saw my sketch, it was a big YES!
I love it when I get to go wild on a design!!

This 6 inch vanilla cake has ombré sugarpaste, hand painted grass and flowers, sugar flowers, modelling chocolate mushrooms, sugarpaste pebble stairs, door and wisteria, and an ADORABLE fairy card topper.
But no fairy cake is complete without wafer paper butterflies!

I hope you had a FANTASTIC fairy birthday, Abi!
The pictures I’ve seen of the party look amazing!!
Now I want a fairy birthday party!!!!

Sugarpaste ruffle cakes take FOREVER to make, so I can’t tell you how pleased I was when Kirn opted for buttercream instead! 😂🙈

A job which would have taken a whole day of rolling, cutting, thinning, ruffling, adhering, swearing, tantrums, and regret, was avoided by a simple adjustment of the finish.
And with the current temperatures here in the UK, it was absolutely the best option, as buttercream cakes can be refrigerated.

Delivered to the gorgeous Namaste Lounge in Northwood, this two tier pink ruffle and ombré cake is comprised of 6 and 8 inch chocolate sponges, filled with chocolate buttercream, and has a covering of white chocolate ganache underneath the vanilla buttercream finish.
Complete with gold splashes and a mirror acrylic topper.

Ok so we’re all aware that whilst I can make pretty cakes, they’re just not my thing 🙈
So once I got the display piece (decorated at the Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce expo on Friday) back home, I decided to make it more me.
The corset was too….. nice, and I didn’t want to destroy it, but to add to it.
Then I had a moment.

I LOVE a juxtaposition piece, showing stark contrasts between two opposing styles.

The bright and open flowers on the skirt (showing proof of being cared for) are in full bloom, acting as a distraction from the overgrowth and decay of the corset, which has been neglected and abandoned.
Beauty drawing attention away from what is deemed as ugly.

But there’s a glimmer of what was once beautiful on the corset, with the gold embellishments still shining bright from underneath.
You can see once the vines are cleared, the moss is removed and the corset cleaned, that beauty which was always underneath it all, will be restored.

The body, which was damaged a little on the journey home, has each blemish and mark highlighted with gold.
The scars will always be there.
There’s no hiding them.
So emphasising those with something as valuable as gold, shows they’re not to be hidden, but showcased with pride.
Proof of a journey made, and survived.

I think we can all relate in one way or another.
Our lives are a journey. We get bumped and bruised along the way. We neglect parts of ourselves which should have always been nurtured. We put a lot into keeping the focus on the things we want people to see, in the hopes they ignore the things we don’t.
Maybe one day what was allowed to decay will be restored, and the beauty that is you will be bright and shining.
Because we all deserve to love every part of us, no matter what it’s been through, or still going through. ❤️

Anyway! That’s enough of that.

Quite often, I’m asked “what’s your favourite cake you’ve made?”, and honestly, that’s such a difficult question!

When you love your job as much as I do, there’s so many favourites, and they all have their reasons.
Cthulhu is on the list, as it was my first gold at cake international. At the time, one of my idols (now my friend), said it was their favourite, and I was so taken aback!
Lloyd the Llove Llama is there too. He’s so full of character and charm, and every new detail I added, had me fall in love with him.
Pikachu was my first structure supported only by just one point at the toe, so he was an achievement I’d unlocked on my structure journey.

There’s many more, but these are definitely my top three.
