It’s a funny old industry, hospitality.

The highs are incredible, the lows can be exhausting, and the people who help you through those moments leave a lasting mark.

This weekend we’re saying goodbye to our General Manager, Lily.

She joined us at one of the most intense periods imaginable, helping steer ACE through launch, finding her feet while we were all finding ours. Opening a restaurant is chaotic at the best of times, but somehow she kept showing up every day with endless positivity, resilience and an unwavering commitment to the team and our guests.

Over the past year she’s played a huge part in helping shape what ACE Victoria Park has become. Like any new business, we’ve had challenges, long days and plenty of lessons, but we’ve also shared some brilliant memories and celebrated some incredible milestones together.

As is so often the way in hospitality, the time has come for Lily to move on to new projects and new opportunities. We’re genuinely excited for whatever comes next and know she’ll be a huge asset wherever she lands.

Thank you for everything you’ve given to ACE, for getting us through one hell of a first year, and for caring about this place as much as you did. You’ll always have a pizza waiting for you!

Recently updated for summer - our all new Antipasti Salad is briny, herby, punchy and an absolute masterclass in texture.

Fresh Herbs & Rocket, Marinated Artichokes, Nocellara Olives, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds & Pine Nuts, Marinated Peppers, and a zingy Lemon Vinaigrette.

Get one for the table, pair it alongside your pizza, or for takeaway to be enjoyed as part of your picnic in VP. We’d call that a very balanced meal.

We handed the birthday spritz brief to honey spencer tastemaker extraordinaire, friend of ACE Pizza, and someone who knows more about what’s good in a glass than almost anyone we know.

She came back with this beauty.

Lambrusco, Bergamot, Ace Orange Soda, Grapefruit.
A chilled sparkling red spritz that’s fruity and bright with a beautiful citrus bitterness and bubbles that make everything feel a bit more celebratory. Divine is the only word for it.

We were incredibly honoured when Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes by Claire Ptak agreed to collaborate with us on our birthday dessert.

We’ve been huge fans (and regular visitors) of the Violet bakery for years. It’s a true Hackney institution and, in our eyes, the undisputed queen of birthday cake.

As soon as Rach and Claire started bouncing ideas around, Claire’s daughter had an inspirational idea. Combining her two things: cookie dough and ice cream.

Soft serve has become such a big part of what we do at ACE, and we can’t think of a better way to finish a pizza.

After plenty of testing, we landed on the winner: Violet’s classic egg-yolk chocolate chip cookie dough, baked warm and gooey, topped with birthday cake soft serve with notes of vanilla and raspberry, then finished with a dusting of freeze-dried raspberry powder for that unmistakable Violet Cakes finish.

It’s nostalgic, a little bit over the top, and unapologetically sweet.

When it came to our birthday beer there was only ever one brewery we had in mind - Hackney’s s of course!

Five Points have been a huge part of the ACE story from the very beginning, with us starting out at Pembury Tavern (where we still of course serve pizza and is very much our spiritual home!).

We were super happy they agreed to work with us on our birthday beer. We wanted something tropical, thirst quenching, perfect with pizza.

We sent our Kat down to the brewery to help create this tropical brew and the result is Wipe Out! a 5% Pineapple JUPA.

And yes before you ask, it is inspired by our pizza of the same name. Chorizo Crumble, Grilled Pineapple, Fior Di Latte, Spicy Marinara, Jalapeños, Pecorino — a Pembo recipe we loved so much we brought it to Victoria Park, now immortalised in beer form.

The beer itself is juicy and bright with a gentle bitterness and a sweet pineapple finish. A proper thirst quencher made for sunny days.

Our very own beer aficionado Tom confirms it pairs perfectly with the pie itself. Pineapple and spice. What a match. 🍺

X Ace Pizza — THE NY DELI PIE.

Rachel’s obsession with a New York slice is well documented. And when thinking about New York flavours in London, we didn’t have to look far. Simply a short walk from the Pembury to Papo’s Bagels. Our favourite bagels in the city, who’ve fed us more lunchtimes than we care to admit. This collab was inevitable.

On our birthday menu for July, this ode to New York is inspired by the pastrami on everything bagel (our holy grail)

THE NY DELI PIE
Provolone, Fior di Latte, Shaved Pastramj, Dill Pickle, Jalapeño Cream Cheese, American Mustard and (of course) plenty Papo’s Everything Seasoning.

Genuinely the ideal amalgamation of a pizza and a bagel. We’re obsessed!

Last Tuesday we threw open our doors for a little preview of our birthday menu and to share a glass with some of the people who helped it all come together.

Joseph Samya had the tunes on point all night, the slices and Lambrusco spritzes were flowing and honestly the energy on the street was just as good as inside.

Big love to everyone who wandered in off the pavement (Yes, even Joy Crookes walked by to have a spritz) and everyone who stayed for a slice! We still can’t quite believe we’ve called Victoria Park home for a whole year. This neighbourhood has looked after us from day one, and last night felt like proof of that.

Thank you, genuinely, for every bit of support along the way. It means more than we can say. Rach, Tom and the ACE Pizza Team x

CLAMS CASINO 🦪 with of Decatur r - Rachel and Tom go way back to their street food days, (swipe for some pics from the archives) and he needs little introduction in East London. Infamous for his Southern American seafood boils and chargrilled oysters, Tom and Rachel have collaborated on their take on a classic Italian-American seafood dish - Clams Casino, baked Cherrystone clams served on the half-shell, topped with guanciale, breadcrumbs, and hunk load of garlic.

Served with ACE dough sticks for mopping up every last bit of garlic butter and clam liquor.

XL American hardshell clams on the half shell, stuffed with garlic and guanciale butter, lemon & breadcrumbs. An Italian-American starter that is beyond decadent. Tom truly never misses.

🍕 The NY Deli Pie with

Provolone, fior di latte, pastrami, dill pickle, jalapeño cream cheese, American mustard and Papo’s everything seasoning. A love letter to New York cuisine on a pizza base. We also have a banging veggie version available with house-made vegan pastrami.

Before ACE Pizza, there was Capish? (iykyk)

Rachel’s Italian-American food stall and hero sandwiches started everything. These meatballs are that story on a plate. A recipe developed over 15 years. The perfect ratio of Ginger Pig beef and pork mince, a fiery tomato sauce laced with garlic and fennel, simmered low and slow for 2 hours - juicy and moreish and thoroughly decadent.

Perfected over years, loved by everyone who orders them. A fan favourite for a very good reason.

It’s hard to believe, but we’re almost one year old. A year ago, we were still standing in what was essentially a building site, wondering whether anyone would actually turn up when we opened the doors. Thankfully, you did.

More than 50,000 pizzas, countless slices, thousands of guests, and one very busy year later, here we are.

To celebrate, throughout the month of July, we’ll be serving a very special collaboration menu created with five independent East London businesses and friends of ACE Pizza.

KOREAN BBQ BEEF x THE SAUCERER 🌶️🍕🍺
THURSDAY 25TH JUNE ONLY AT THE PEMBURY TAVERN

When we started playing around with Saucerer Gochujang Arrabbiata, we assumed we’d use it as a base sauce. Instead, we ended up building the whole special around it!

We used it to marinate the bulgogi style beef, then turn it into a spicy, buttery, buffalo-style sauce that gets drizzled on top of. Post-bake we add kimchi ranch, pickled daikon, spring onions and sesame. The result is sweet, spicy, smoky and turns out ridiculously good with a cold lager.

Available next Thursday 25th June at our monthly Pembo Slice NIght. But seeing as it’s the pubs annual Lagerfest that weekend and this pizza deserves to be served with lager, we’ll be running it as a 12 inch special for the whole weekend too. You’re welcome.

CARBONARA SUPPLI

Available now on our specials menu at Victoria Park and they’re already a hit. Carbonara inspired risotto balls made with pancetta, a shed load of confit garlic, a bit of cream (non authentic yes we know) and of course egg yolk with loads of black pepper, deep fried and filled with mozzarella for a cheese pull that goes on for miles. Topped with extra grana and crispy bacon bits.

So good we might have to get them on the permanent menu…

It’s Strawb Season 🍓

Introducing our new ‘Strawberry Shortcake’ Soft Serve Sundae. A mound of pepper macerated strawberries adorn the top of our signature Fior di Latte, drizzled in what we’ve named ‘pudding crack’, a condensed milk sauce. Sprinkled with a buttery biscuit crumble. This sweet treat will surely give your regular Strawberries & Cream a run for its money…
