Today is International Women’s Day, so I’m taking over Sam’s instagram to write a few words.

As a female restaurateur and co-founder of Sam’s Riverside and Sam’s Waterside, it felt like the perfect moment to recognise the incredible women who shape our restaurants, cafés and shop — and who make our community what it is.

From our wonderful customers, to the producers and suppliers we work with, to the chefs and front-of-house teams who welcome you every day — women are truly at the heart of so much of what we do.

A huge thank you to the brilliant women across our teams:
Abby, Amanda, Amber, Anastasiia, Antho, Anya, Bozena, Caroline, Chevanya, Cora, Cristina, Dionne, Elise, Gemma, Georgia, Georgie, Isabelle, Jade, Katie, Katie, Laurel, Lilia, Lily, Lucia, Magdalena, Marieke, Mariia, Martyna, Melissa, Min, Mishu, Niamh, Pippa, Phoebe, Raya, Roxane, Saira, Sandra, Scarlett (my daughter), Simona, Tamara, Tara, Veronica, Yaslin — and Marisa our wonderful florist, who is basically part of the team.

We truly couldn’t do this without you. You bring calm, creativity, strength and a willingness to get stuck in every single day.

A special mention also to Cherry, Nicky and Debra, who have stood by us through thick and thin — your loyalty means the world.

Our restaurants have always been about more than food. They are about people, respect and community, and today feels like the perfect moment to celebrate the women who make that possible.

And of course, Mother’s Day is next Sunday — another lovely moment to celebrate the wonderful women in our lives.
