I love that our children are friends with our friends' children. It's one of the most special things about my friendship group.

Of course, I guess we are friends because the kids brought us to each other. They went to school together, or a club, bonded, grew up together. And now we get to celebrate all that on special occasions like Joe's 18th.

I love that our kids like hanging out with us too... Christmas Eve has become what my husband and I always talked about, a time to celebrate where we invite our friends and their kids want to come too.

I can't wait for 24th December. Don't get me wrong, I am not wishing the time away. I love the summer... Although I wouldn't mind a gentle breeze and some air conditioning right now... Or a December day just to cool down!

What a month it's been!
Exams completed, results in and not too shabby.
First draft of dissertation in and feedback not too shabby.
4 weeks to go of this career change, masters, brain challenge and I feel quite proud.
And added in to that lovely feeling there have been so many celebrations of the lovely people in my life.
Lots of good times shared, so much positivity in a world that can feel pretty ugly at the moment.
I choose positive (and have to remind myself to extend that to me, not just the people around me) and I choose change if something doesn't serve.
That's what I hope this next chapter is about.
So cakes may be drawing to a close for the most part
(despite all the ones I have made in recent weeks, including this cutie) but life is good.

Been so busy with the final assignment of my degree (not including the big old dissertation) and final placement, that I have Christmas cakes to post still let alone this, my son's birthday cake, from January!

It's nearly May!!!

Where is the time going?!

Just over 3 months to go in the Faculty of Brain Sciences and I'll be looking for the job that will fill the hole left by the closing of this little cake business of mine.

Don't worry! I am very excited for the next chapter... If a touch nervous!

I have been putting this off.
It doesn't really sit easily with me but I know it's the right thing to do.

After 20 years of varying success, hitting my peak in lock down making cakes to cheer you all when we couldn't go out to celebrate, I have decided to close the doors of For Heaven's Cakes in a fully professional capacity.

I love this little job. But, if I am honest, I never really committed to it fully because it could have been so much more and perhaps that should tell me all I need to know.
I will miss it though.

However, as you know I have been studying a Masters to become a Speech and Language Therapist and I am in the final stretch of exams and dissertation so can't afford the time for cake orders. Then, hopefully, I will be gainfully employed and still won't have much time. So, I need to pick a lane.

That's not to say that if you still want a For Heaven's Cake, and understand I am now just a home baker, I might be able to help. For family and friends, including those I have picked up as regulars over the last two decades!

Thank you for your support - I very much appreciated your trust.

And, I will still be here, as I haven't posted a fair few creations since starting my degree... So if you just like the pics, there's still an FHC portfolio to enjoy.

Can't believe I never posted this...a cosmopolitan flavoured cake for my little girl (not so little at 21), first born baby's birthday. What a day that was, 21 years ago... She was determined to stay put... Not ready to face the world. Sometimes she still feels like that now! But she is... So ready.
