Know your omegas.🌿
Omega-3 and omega-6 are both essential fatty acids, meaning your body cannot produce them. The problem is not omega-6 itself. It is that modern diets are so abundant in it that the ratio to omega-3 has shifted, from an ideal of around 4:1 to closer to 20:1 in most Western diets. That imbalance has consequences for inflammation, cardiovascular health and brain function.
Omega-7 is non-essential but worth knowing. Palmitoleic acid, found in sea buckthorn and macadamia, plays a direct role in skin cell regeneration, mucous membrane integrity and metabolic health. Omega-9, also non-essential, is produced by the body in small amounts and supports healthy cholesterol levels and cardiovascular function.
Food is the most effective way to shift the balance. Chia Seed Oil delivers 66g of omega-3 per 100g. Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil, extracted from the pulp, contains 37g of omega-7 per 100g. Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Almond Oil are excellent sources of omega-9.🌿
