I have been working on this event for clearcommunityweb which has been fun and we are excited to be launching next Wednesday! Hopefully with more to come. If you know anyone locally that would benefit please invite them along.

Today is our last day open at Sustenance Zero Waste Groceries! We are closing the business and would like to sell as much produce as possible without plastic packaging before the end of the day to make sure we can cover all our outstanding bills and money owed!

We have had a decline in sales over the last 6 months which is due to a number of reasons and also the space we are housed in is going to be redeveloped. We are staying open until the end of June to sell off as much of the stock as possible.

Are you able to help us reach our goal of £4500 before the end of June to pay off debts such as the small loans we took out for the new shelving in the shop?

A lot of the finances for Sustenance has been from sales from our awesome customers but also from personal investment from the founder of Sustenance - starting a environmentally and socially responsible business is risky business and has been so worth it, but we need your support in paying our final bills at the shop because our income dropped significantly last year and especially between December - March 2022.

We did have some savings which were used to keep us afloat during these uncertain times, but now these have all gone.

Ideally we do not want to close Sustenance with left over bills to pay as these will have to be absorbed by Katie who has been paying herself a modest wage during these tougher times for the shop.

🧐All of our herbs and spices are priced per 100G so they appear to be more expensive than supermarkets but they are in fact cheaper! Because the amount bought in a supermarket is 30G compared to the price of 100G which is over 3 times the amount in a standard supermarket jar.

🤲Sustenance is raising funds. We have eaten into the business savings entirely over the last nine months due to having hope that the business would recover and the hope that we may be able to move into new premises and get a business loan.

😞We have had an amazing 3 years running the business, however since last summer we have seen a gradual decline in customers and then a large drop in our income over the first quarter of 2022 - 1/5 to 1/4 of our revenue has been down.

😞We still have some outstanding bills that we need to pay and have been requested by customers to set up a go fund me account so we can get help from those who can help.

😍I (Katie) am open to turning Sustenance over to the community to have a community interest company or co-operative for plastic-free, zero-waste health foods and goods. So if you are interested, don't hesitate to get in touch with me to see if a group can be formed.
