Sunday nights around here tend to look a bit like this šŸ·

A glass of red, a game of dominoes unfinished and a hand of cards nobody is rushing to play. Picky bits because there’s no room for much else after a Sunday roast…and the sweet relief of knowing there’s no alarm to be set for Monday morning.

Something you won’t find at Talland: surf.

Something you will find at Talland: more than enough time to finally sit down and do a whole crossword, blissfully undisturbed and unhurried.

We always thought surfing looked a bit much like hard work for a holiday, anyway.

šŸŽ¾ Wimbledon fever is in full force and things are heating up on Centre Court šŸŽ¾

If you’re glued to every game, might we suggest a tasty changeover? Our Wimbledon Afternoon Tea is serving right through to the 12th July, with sweet serves, savoury volleys and a Pimms-laced finale if you so fancy. All with a sea view instead of a queue for Henman Hill.

Book your table and let the tennis talk continue between bites.

Cornwall, beyond the obvious: beach edition šŸ–ļø

Not every beach day needs watersports and a crowd. Sometimes all you actually need is a towel, a good book, and a stretch of sand (or shingle, each has its place) where the loudest thing you’ll hear is the tide and the only traffic you’ll encounter is the bobbing of a boat passing through. There’s a heatwave on the horizon; here’s where we’d spend it:

šŸ“ Talland Bay Beach

This one’s so close, you could probably make it down with most of your morning coffee still in your cup. It’s a favourite for morning dips, rockpooling (you’re never too old) and doing absolutely nothing at all but enjoy your front row seat to the bay’s ever-changing views.

šŸ“ Rotterdam Beach

Tiny, tucked away and blissfully quiet. Blink and you might miss it...but that’s exactly why we locals love it.

šŸ“ Hannafore Beach

A little wilder than Looe’s main beach, with rockpools, views across to Looe Island and plenty of room for a slow, salty wander.

šŸ“ Lansallos Cove

Further west but worth the effort. This is one for the walkers and the smugglers-at-heart, thanks to its chequered past as a hiding place for contraband.

šŸ“ Lantic Bay

It isn’t exactly effortless - there’s a climb involved, and you will feel it on the way back up - but Lantic Bay is beautiful enough to make everyone conveniently forget that part.

Which are you starting with this summer?

There’s something delicious going on in Looe.

The harbour is still doing its proper harbour business - boats coming in, seafood being landed, seagulls looking to snaffle the end bit of a pasty - but lately there’s an even tastier buzz in the air. New openings. Clever menus. Serious seafood.

There’s a foodie renaissance taking shape in South Cornwall that we’re simmering with excitement to be part of šŸ½ļø

Father’s Day weekend is upon us and that means two things: firstly, it’s set to be a busy weekend here at Talland Bay and there’s still time to get involved šŸ½ļø

Work a last-minute Lads & Dads Afternoon Tea into your weekend plans, or let us treat dad to a pint on us, when you join us for Sunday Lunch. Sunday also sees the annual RNLI Looe Raft Race and we’re all set to watch some of the team take to the river for a day that always promises buckets (and spades) of fun. Stop by for a well-deserved drink afterwards, if you’re joining the raft of…rafts.

Lastly, should that last-minute ā€œoh no, I forgot about Father’s Day!ā€ panic have just set in, here’s your friendly reminder that our vouchers arrive immediately šŸ˜‰ You’ll find them on our website, and Dad will find plenty of cause to raise a toast here on the Cornish coast šŸ»

šŸ„‚Date Night at Talland Bay šŸ„‚

Surf or turf? That is the question. We couldn’t possibly pick a favourite, so this date night we’re serving up both. Choose land or sea, steak or seafood, or celebrate finally getting a night off together by going all out and putting both on the same plate (and perhaps even adding a glass or two of fizz, should you feel that way inclined...)

This month’s Date Night at Talland takes place on Thursday 25th June. Bring an appetite and each other, and meet us by the sea. Book your table on the website today.

Looe quayside will be bustling this weekend as both the Looe Food & Drink Festival and the first of the Summer Sea Shanties come to town.

We’d go so far as to say it’s one of the best weekends of the year, (we’ve been preparing our taste buds and readying our singing voices for weeks…)

If you’re spending the weekend with us, ask the team for their pick from a tasty line-up of chef demos. And if you aren’t, consider this your invitation to head along the coast path from Looe to Talland for a coffee if you could use a way to put all of that food to good use!

Don’t look now, but this weekend’s forecast has got ā€œsharers in the sunā€ written all over it ā˜€ļø

Our Plates menu is special for a few reasons. Ingredients from local boats, local farms, local folk we know well; dishes built around what is in season and exceptional right now here in Cornwall. Served within sight of the sea, and with your first beer on us when you tuck in, for a limited time only šŸ»

If that’s enough reason for you to make hay and sample Plates while the sun shines, get your lunch booking in the diary for the weekend while the sea view seats are still there for the taking!

From sunshine to showers in the space of a week…Cornwall sure does like to keep us all on our toes on the weather front!

But if there’s one thing we do know, it’s that June rain means our gardens will be looking even greener come summer ā˜€ļø The days of morning coffees on the lawn, al fresco lunches on the terrace, and sundowners under pink skies are coming, we can feel it. We’ll be ready…
