Cornwall, beyond the obvious: beach edition šļø
Not every beach day needs watersports and a crowd. Sometimes all you actually need is a towel, a good book, and a stretch of sand (or shingle, each has its place) where the loudest thing youāll hear is the tide and the only traffic youāll encounter is the bobbing of a boat passing through. Thereās a heatwave on the horizon; hereās where weād spend it:
š Talland Bay Beach
This oneās so close, you could probably make it down with most of your morning coffee still in your cup. Itās a favourite for morning dips, rockpooling (youāre never too old) and doing absolutely nothing at all but enjoy your front row seat to the bayās ever-changing views.
š Rotterdam Beach
Tiny, tucked away and blissfully quiet. Blink and you might miss it...but thatās exactly why we locals love it.
š Hannafore Beach
A little wilder than Looeās main beach, with rockpools, views across to Looe Island and plenty of room for a slow, salty wander.
š Lansallos Cove
Further west but worth the effort. This is one for the walkers and the smugglers-at-heart, thanks to its chequered past as a hiding place for contraband.
š Lantic Bay
It isnāt exactly effortless - thereās a climb involved, and you will feel it on the way back up - but Lantic Bay is beautiful enough to make everyone conveniently forget that part.
Which are you starting with this summer?
