This branch was closed down 3 yrs ago and my beloved customers still like and message me on this page.

THE BATTERED COD on Ladybarn lane is the original and only Battered cod in this area. Other branches in Gatley and Wythenshawe still going strong.

Our Story

Hi, I am Frank the owner of the Battered Cod chain. I started in August 1985 from our head branch in Ladybarn Fallowfield. It was hard as I could not afford to pay any staff. I was only 23 yrs of age but knew this has to work. It took 3 yrs to make any real profit. June 1988 we broke our sales records and I threw a big party. I knew I have made it and my hard work and knowledge has paid off. We aim to sell good healthy (Frying Oil) fish & chips at a reasonable & Affordable price.We have never entered any competition just to give others a chance.
