Last week we had the pleasure of attending the IALD Conference in Paris, joining an inspiring community of lighting designers, architects and industry experts to explore the evolving relationship between light and the built environment.

A key theme throughout the discussion was how project priorities shift over time – and the role lighting plays in responding to those changes. From early design intent to final ex*****on there is a strong emphasis on precision: focusing light where it truly matters, while carefully minimising unnecessary light spill. This balance not only enhances visual impact and user experience but also supports more sustainable, considered design outcomes.

It was an insightful and thought-provoking event, reinforcing the importance of intentional lighting design in shaping spaces that are both functional and atmospheric.

Attending another Specifi Interiors event in Newcastle provided a valuable opportunity to connect with industry peers and engage in meaningful conversations.
