Continuing the Spotlight of crafters attending our Craft Fayre next week, we'd like to welcome Bizzy Beads Crafting .

We have been told that that Bizzy Beads Crafting started when "two neighbours got together to do Indian Block Printing and now love to create, sell and pass on this wonderful craft." Looking at their pictures, we think they are being a little modest - their work is gorgeous and we look forward to seeing their makes first hand at the Harts Barn Craft Centre Summer Fair & Evening Shopping next week.

Please support your local small businesses and the talented crafters that we are welcoming by visiting us next week at Harts Barn Craft Centre from 4pm and seeing what our local area has to offer.

Our Craft Fayre is next Wednesday 22nd July here Harts Barn Craft Centre. Along with the varied businesses already onsite and the crafters who are joining for the summer evening, we have nominated a charity that is based here onsite to raise money for a much needed new cooker. There will be raffle tickets available to buy in various shops and businesses on that evening - with the draw for prizes being held on Thursday 23rd.

Dean Forest Kitchen was started in July 2022 by a group of people who saw the need for a Meals on Wheels service in the Forest of Dean area. We were concerned about the growing population of people isolated in their own homes and unable to feed themselves effectively and also that there was a need to interact with people rather than just dropping a meal. It's important to us for our growing customer base to have a freshly cooked nutritious hot meals delivered and served with some conversation. The team at Dean Forest Kitchen start early in the morning to cook up the fresh meals to box up ready for the drivers to collect and take out on delivery routes. Each driver will spend time talking to their customers and if there are concerns or worries, they will provide feedback to family members, social services or any organisation involved in their care. We feel that our service helps keep our customers independent in their own homes.

If you are interested in having meals delivered to yourself or a family member within the Forest of Dean area, it is really simple to set things up. Either contact us on 01452 903505 or email [email protected] and we can discuss what is best for you or your loved one. You can always try out the service to see if it's right!

Dean Forest Kitchen has a small team who provide this service, however, we always need more help so if you are looking to fill your week by volunteering for a worthy cause then please get in touch on the details above.

Raffle tickets will be available at various locations during the Craft Fayre.

This will be a great evening raising money for a great charity that benefits a lot of people across the Forest of Dean area. We hope to see some of you here at Harts Barn Craft Centre on Wednesday evening.

Did you lose anything yesterday?

Found this morning, Friday 17th July a silver cuff bangle which is being looked after in The Mystical Cat shop AND we've also found a jar of homemade chilli jam sold by The Forest Larder which will get dropped back in there when they open.

Owners will need to provide details of items 😊

Thanks

In addition to some great local crafters, on the evening of the Craft Fayre some of our onsite businesses are planning something extra special for the occasion too!

Harts Barn Cookery School have arranged some great extras for that evening. In addition to the live pasta demonstrations and tasting, a speciality cocktail and loaded flatbreads, we have heard today that the "olive oil man" will also be onsite and there'll be a bake sale of goodies from the Award Winning Artisan Baker, Alex Gooch of Monmouth not to mention all the great local food and drink that they sell in the Forest Larder as well. You'll be able to meet some of the Harts Barn Cookery School team team, and explore what the cookery school has to offer whilst watching the team at work and getting the opportunity to sample delicious food and drinks. What's not to love!

The Craft Fayre is running from 4pm on Wednesday 22nd July - we look forward to welcoming you to our amazing site.

Another day, and more crafters to introduce you to!

This afternoon we are showcasing Jackie of Kerameeks Crafts . Like Pauline of Red Dog Studio this morning, Jackie already has some of her work on sale at Harts Barn Craft Centre. Her fused glass necklaces can currently be found in The Mystical Cat and some of her ceramic and earthenware pots in The Lavender Stone Florist .

Jackie started her hobby in ceramics during the 2020 lockdown with it quickly
becoming a primary interest, encompassing both hand building and wheel throwing. With her Clay types ranging from earthenware through stoneware to raku, fired in electric, raku, and phoenix wood fired kilns. She didn't stop there though with her craftiness - over the past year, she self-taught in watercolours through books and online tutorials, and found that watercolour painting offers a portable and calming creative outlet. Last year, it heavily influenced the making of Christmas cards and gifts. And then if that wasn't enough Jackie took to glass fusing. A microwave kiln handles smaller glass pieces, while larger works go into the ceramic kiln. Jewellery is the current focus, and there is particular satisfaction in crafting pendants and glass “crystals” by hand — an approach that allows for complete creative freedom and experimentation with new techniques.

Jackie might be retired from her former career but she certainly keeps busy with all her artistic hobbies!. We already know that Jackie's makes are beautiful but you'll get an opportunity to see them for yourself at the Craft Fayre next Wednesday, 22nd July from 4pm.

Come along and support all of our small local businesses and crafters here at Harts Barn Craft Centre. We look forward to welcoming you 🤗

Continuing the Spotlight of crafters attending our Craft Fayre next week, we'd like to welcome (back) Pauline of Red Dog Studio .

Pauline has attended the craft fayres here at Harts Barn a number of times and is usually accompanied by one of her 4 legged friends - the name of her business is a big clue as to what type of 4 legged friend she has!

Originally Pauline brought along her beautiful wood turned crafts however in more recent times she has also turned her hand to willow work and already sells some of these pieces through our resident florist, The Lavender Stone Florist .

We are looking forward to Pauline's latest arty pieces as well seeing her 4 legged friend again next week at the Harts Barn Craft Centre Summer Fair & Evening Shopping next week.

Support your local small businesses by popping down and seeing some of the crafters and small businesses that our local area has to offer.

Another day, another talented crafter to showcase - this time we'd like to introduce Sally from Southfork Designs.

Sally tells us that this is, in her words "....another hobby turning into a new business. Following my successful flower shop (a previous hobby) a few years ago, I have been hooked by the jewellery making bug. My design qualifications enable me to create some unique pieces of jewellery. My wish is that they are worn with the pleasure they are to make. I keep things at reasonable prices and have made some pieces that will appeal to all."

I think the pictures show us Sally's talent - you can visit her website at www.southfork-designs.online/

We are looking forward to welcoming Sally and her beautiful makes at our Craft Fayre on Wednesday 22 July here at Harts Barn Craft Centre. Just 1 week to go!!

Not long to go until our Summer Craft Fayre - if you aren't aware it's on Wednesday 22nd July from 4pm until around 8pm (ish). This week we are showcasing some of the crafters and businesses who will be attending with their products and/or services.

The next business we'd like to introduce you to is Elly Adams from All Well Beings. Elly will be joining our little band of Harts Barn businesses from September for 1 day a week, however she will be offering taster sessions on the evening of our Craft Fayre. Working out of Holistic Health Massage & Massage Trainer 's unit (opposite The Lavender Stone Florist) you will need to pre-book a short session with her in advance and on this link:

https://www.sumupbookings.com/all-well-beings-1

This is what Elly has shared with us about what she does:

"With a focus on non-invasive techniques to help ease pain, tension and restricted movement, I offer a range of services to create a totally bespoke treatment package to each client. Choose from The Bowen Technique, TMJ Therapy, Scar Tissue Release, Swedish massage and Reflexology for yourself, OR Canine Bowen Therapy or Applied Herbal Choices for your dog. I have a special interest in the mind -body connection and how stress and trauma affect the physical body. I am a firm believer that the body really does keep the score, so sessions are often geared towards nervous system regulation as a way of releasing pain and tension, helping improve posture and movement patterns."

Elly will be offering bodywork treatments for both people and dogs in the treatment room at Harts Barn Craft Centre every Thursday 11-7pm from September 2026 You can find out more about Elly's full suite of treatments by visiting her website at https://allwellbeings.co.uk

But if you cannot wait, you can experience a taster session on 22nd July from 4pm - pre-booking is essential ☺and yes there is something for dogs too!
