One of the things I'm particularly proud of with Grow Kitchen is that, I think, we're becoming known as a place where you get a warm welcome and great service.

Many of our reviews on Google and TripAdvisor mention this anyway. It's something I was very keen to build into the experience we give our guests, so I'm pleased we're going in the right direction.

Two of the other to things I'm also proud of are our food and coffee. Despite growth being slower than I'd hoped, I do still belive we're building something special. And our team are instrumental in making us what we are.

For a while now I’ve thought about offering cold sandwiches, and with this warm weather it feels like the right time.

But I need your input to help us offer things that best suits you (and us too, of course).

Facebook Poll (via comments): Which would appeal most to you? Please answer a 1, 2 or 3 in the comments

1. Offering these sandwiches to takeaway only (ie at the lower prices) – made to order
2. Offering the cold ones to takeaway only (at the lower price) – in a “grab-n-go” pre-made format from our fridge for a quick takeaway option
3. Offering the sandwiches to takeaway at the lower price OR eat in with 20% surcharge (VAT being payable on all eat-in food is the reasoning)

I’m hoping to have some of these available this week, so keep your eyes out for more!

I’d love to know what you think.

I guess it’s about time I introduced myself. After all, we have been open for over eight months now!

Hello, I’m Rob! I am the proud owner of Grow Kitchen.

It’s long been a dream of mine to run a funky little café one day! After running Wrap Ninjas Street Food for a few years, I felt I had the experience and confidence to make that “one day” become “now”. Well, sort of.

I didn’t feel ready, but then we often don’t feel “ready” to take those big, bold and life changing choices. Sometimes we just have to put one foot forward, lean into the uncertainty, and give things a go!

"Life begins outside your comfort zone" - a motto I heard some time ago and loved.

Anyway, a bit about me:
• I’ve been passionate about food for my whole life
• Loved cooking for others since around 15 (helping my mum out in the kitchen while she recovered from an injury)
• Music and health/wellness are two of my other big passions
• Favourite music genres: Hip Hop, Drum and Bass (I love many more types of music though!)
• I also love plants and enjoy gardening (in fact, growing some of my own food was an inspiration for the name “Grow Kitchen”
• A big chunk of my career was in office-type jobs, before I did a massive pivot into catering!
• Currently reading: Not the End of the World by Hannah Ritchie

I’ve loved bringing Grow Kitchen to life so far, and sharing our food, drinks and vibe with you all.

It has been super hard work though, and I know that’s likely to always be the case. So it’s a good job I’m a hard working and stubborn chap!

Edit: We're at 4 Queen Street in Morecambe, for those that have asked/haven't discovered us yet

Did you know that Eden Project Morecambe worked with local young people and Harry Holdings Design to create a garden for the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show?

And we can all vote to make it the "People's Chioce" garden! Another opportunity for us all to show support to Morecambe, and to help bring more visibility and visitors to the town.

The Eden Community Garden will eventually form part of the open-to-all community gardens surrounding the Eden Project in Morecambe, with building work on the garden to start this year (as far as I know).

Voting is now OPEN for the BBC/RHS People’s Choice Award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show — and Eden Project Morecambe needs your support.

The Eden Project: Bring Me Sunshine Garden has already won a prestigious Silver Gilt Medal and the RHS Environmental Innovation Award, and now the public has the chance to help it win one more incredible honour.

Inspired by Morecambe Bay and the young people of our community, the garden tells a powerful story of regeneration, opportunity, sustainability and hope. Designed by Harry Holding and Alex Michaelis, it shines a national spotlight on the future of Eden Project Morecambe and the importance of creating pathways into green industries for young people who are often overlooked.

With its solar-powered learning space, coastal planting inspired by Morecambe Bay, sustainable materials and climate-resilient design, the garden has captured hearts at Chelsea — now we need your vote.

Voting opens at 2pm on Wednesday 20th May and closes at 8pm on Thursday 21st May.

Let’s show the country what Morecambe is all about.
