It is with a heavy heart we have now closed Pigalo’s North Shields permanently.

This was an incredibly difficult decision, reached only after exploring every possible option.

We want to pay special tribute to our team. They have been the heart of this place — showing up with commitment, creativity, and kindness every single day. Through busy nights, quiet weeks, and everything in between, they gave their all. We’re deeply proud of them and grateful for everything they’ve done.

As a result of the closure, our staff are now looking for new roles. If any local businesses are recruiting and would like to be put in touch with them, please feel free to message us — they are talented, hardworking people who would be an asset to any team.

To our customers: thank you for supporting us, recommending us, celebrating with us, and keeping us going for as long as we did. Your loyalty meant more than you know.

Pigalos has played a huge part of our lives and we absolutely beyond devastated that we have to let go of our dreams.

Our Newcastle Pigalos at Louies will continue to operate as normal so any bookings made for north shields can be transferred over to Newcastle

Thanks for the share but it may be to late now 😟 its not all about the parking space just to make this clear its about the hard work we have put into Pigalos the blood, sweat, tears, anger, family holidays, family occasions, having our own children that we have sacrificed to keep our staff in a job whilst not taking a wage ourselves. Simply put our local council North Tyneside Council and out government The Labour Party do not give 2 flying Fs about hard working people and small businesses! the joke of Rachel Reeves did a shift in McDonald’s to kick of the cut in VAT for children’s meals what a joke that is !!!

North Shields restaurant owner speaks out after parking space removed outside business

The owner of Pigalo's in North Shields has spoken out after waking up to find North Tyneside Council workers removing a parking space directly outside the restaurant.

Aaron, one of the Nile Street restaurant's owners, says the space had been used by customers, including some with mobility issues, and believes its removal will make it even harder for businesses already facing significant challenges.

Speaking in a video posted on social media, Aaron said:

"That little tiny parking space you've took away has just took another parking space away from the North Shields town centre, which is already struggling."

He said Pigalo's has been hit by rising costs and quieter trading, adding that he and his husband are unsure whether they'll be able to continue beyond the end of their current lease.

"We've only got a year left on our lease and we don't know if we're going to continue Pigalo's or not."

Aaron also spoke candidly about the pressures of running a small hospitality business, saying:

"We already struggle to pay our rent, we already struggle to pay our invoices, we already struggle to pay the staff bills."

He added that the parking space had also been useful for some disabled customers because it was directly outside the restaurant entrance.

At the time of writing, North Tyneside Council has not publicly commented on the reason for the parking space being removed.

Commenters suggested that the reason for the change would be to make it easier for buses to turn the corner.
