We are aware of the concerns that have been raised regarding an individual currently staying at our premises.
The safety and wellbeing of our guests, staff and visitors is, and always will be, our highest priority. As soon as these concerns were brought to our attention, we took them seriously and are currently in the process of removing the individual from the premises.
To clarify, we do not carry out criminal background checks ourselves. Before deciding whether to accommodate someone, we are provided with a professional risk assessment by the referring agency, which we use to determine whether it is appropriate to offer accommodation. Unfortunately, these assessments do not always provide the full picture, and on rare occasions information that would have affected that decision is not available to us.
We would never knowingly accommodate anyone who presents a risk to children or the wider public. Had we been made aware of the information that has since come to light, this individual would not have been accommodated at our premises.
We are proud of the work we do in supporting vulnerable people and providing accommodation to those who genuinely need it. The vast majority of those we accommodate pose no risk and are simply trying to rebuild their lives. While every effort is made by all agencies involved to ensure placements are appropriate, there are unfortunately rare occasions where information is incomplete or circumstances come to light that are outside of our control. When that happens, we act swiftly and responsibly.
We appreciate everyone who has contacted us directly to raise their concerns. We take safeguarding extremely seriously and will continue to work with the relevant agencies to ensure the safety of our guests, staff and the wider community.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
