THIS FRIDAY
Django Durrant plays his debut album Stories As You Pass By with support from Flick Durrant and Eddie Brown.
Django Durrant is an indie-folk artist and producer who blends lusciously mixed rhythms, meandering melodies, and dark fantastical lyricism to tell stories through music. His debut album ‘Stories As You Pass By’ takes the listener on a walk through the woods where a character lies in wait behind every song. Django’s live show brings his album to the stage delving deeper into the weird world he’s created within the underbelly of the forest by weaving even more songs seamlessly into the set.
Growing up surrounded by sea and just far enough from Brighton Flick Durrant sought similar soil finding himself in Falmouth. Listen as he plays some original tunes and need not even try but hear the universe’s connective tissue- music.
“I write songs because they have always been, I hope to write them once more for you on this evening. The evening shall be rooted in the real: I will be there checking the roots are real by early afternoon.” Flick Durrant bows at the feet of musical pioneers from the cosmic wanderers to the one spoonful. He will be armed with a guitar and voice, bring a saucepan to catch the rain.
Eddie Brown is a solitary songwriter, roughly fitting into the contemporary folk category, whose songs emerge from time spent in nature and imagination. Listeners have heard shades of Magnet and The Incredible String Band; though welcome observations, he is more directly influenced by Bert Jansch, and Cornish locals Daisy Rickman, Dark Leaves, and Angeline Morrison. His debut album Where Darkness Goes explored the long process of befriending one's own depression, through simple, atmospheric instrumentation, and many weather-themed metaphors. Since making that album, his musical style has begun to increasingly reflect his Celtic origins, whilst retaining his introspective 'alternative singer-songwriter' approach.
