Simon and Kenny would like to wish Andy the very best of luck on his Coast to Coast challenge!
Oesophageal cancer has had, and continues to have, a profound impact on Andy’s family. Five years ago, he sadly lost his father to the disease, and earlier this year his cousin received the devastating diagnosis and is now undergoing treatment.
Motivated by these experiences, Andy has taken on an incredible Coast to Coast walking challenge. Over 14 days this summer, he will hike more than 200 miles from his hometown of Aberdeen to the village of Glenelg in the Highlands.
Andy is raising funds for Cancer Research UK, with every donation supporting the vital work being done to improve outcomes for people affected by oesophageal cancer.
Around 9,400 people are diagnosed with oesophageal cancer each year in the UK. While survival rates have improved, with around 13% of patients now surviving for 10 years or more, Andy is determined to do his part in helping researchers continue to make progress and improve these figures.
Andy set off on Sunday, 21 June, and hopes to reach Glenelg on Saturday, 4 July.
Any donation, no matter the size, would be hugely appreciated and will help support both this important cause and Andy as he takes on this remarkable challenge.
Good luck, Andy! Everyone at The Ploughman is behind you all the way! 💪
