We are the proud winners of the Cambridge CAMRA Rural Community Pub of the Year 2026!

We had a great night supporting the other pubs and establishments who won awards and are so grateful to have received ours!

A massive congratulations to the team and Chris and Jade, and a huge thank you to our customers, whether you come in for your usual, attend one of our events, or were just driving past and decided to pop in. It’s amazing that you make The Chequers part of your community!

Which also means extended opening hours for drinks this evening, we are open right through until the end of the game.

The Chequers is a traditional village pub, with roots stretching back to the 16th Century!

Over the last 500years these walls have been witness to countless stories; from hosting famed diarist Samuel Pepys to serving as the favourite watering hole for the WWII 339th Fighter Group.

Today you know it as the warm, family friendly, dog friendly pub run by Chris and Jade!

As the last remaining pub in the village, have a scroll through and see how this historic spot has evolved over the years…

Happy weekend!

Tomorrow we have some lovely people getting married in our garden ❤️ the pub is very much still open but with limited outdoor table availability.

On Monday and Tuesday evening we have our seafood suppers so some bonus open time for you to pop in for a drink. The bar will be open 6-10pm both nights 🥂🍷🍻 No food available unless you are booked in for the seafood menu 🍴

Monday is fully booked but we have one table left on Tuesday if anyone would like to snap it up, bookings will close on Sunday!

Don't forget we are also on bank holiday monday 4th May, 12noon-8pm (Kitchen 12-6:30pm)
