The Old English Gentleman The Old English Gentleman is a warm & friendly 19th century pub in the centre of Saffron Walden

Our traditional main bar is at the centre of the pub and opens out to a spacious area with tables and seating that can accommodate larger groups. It caters perfectly for both casual dining at lunchtime and drinking with friends in the evening (in fact, at any time of the day!)

We have an open fire in the bar area and a log burner in the dining area to keep you warm in the winter months, and air c

onditioning for the balmy British summer. Our charming patio garden is gem of a suntrap (and heated for when the temperature drops). Throughout the week we offer a wide selection of hearty main meals, light lunches, salads, paninis and hand cut sandwiches. We also have a range of specials that are changed daily, and serve a traditional roast on Sundays. All our meals are prepared to order and cooked fresh on the premises by our lovely chefs. Wherever possible we source our ingredients from local suppliers ever keen to keep one eye on quality and the other on saving the planet! As CAMRA regional pub of the year 2012 (featured in the 2014 good beer guide) we pride ouselves on good inn-keeping standards. We have a wide range of cask ales and bitters - both regular and guest. We also offer on draft a wide range of lagers, cider, stout and wheat beer. To compliment this we keep a wide range of bottled beers, ciders and other drinks

As part of Taste Week in Saffron Walden, The OEG will be offering food 6pm -9pm from Tuesday 7th July - Tuesday 14th July (excluding Saturday)

There will be a Deal on Deli Boards:

Seafood
cheese with 2 glasses of Prosecco for £25
Or
Bottle of house wine for £35

We will also offer traditional basket bar food
Scampi and chips
Chicken burger and chips
Calamari and chips
Nuggets and chips

Mains:
Haggis or veggie haggis with creamy mash potatoes, neeps ( mashed swede and carrot) and peas with a whisky sauce. A shot of scotch whisky to dress your haggis included
