You all know how much I love cooking, but let’s be honest—after a busy day in the kitchen, there are times even I can’t be bothered to cook my own tea! What I always crave is a proper, hearty, home-cooked meal, that’s packed with flavour and healthy too.

Inspired by the tasty "Hot Bar / Build-Your-Own Box" videos our American cousins love on Reels, I’ve been working with Bridie and we are so excited to announce a brand new weekend takeaway trial for Friday and Saturday evenings! 🎉

THE CONCEPT:
You completely customise your box (£12). Pick your main (Chicken, Pork or Breadcrumb Portobello Mushrooms) and build your perfect plate. Want a comforting Sunday dinner vibe with roasties and seasonal veg? You got it. Craving those Greek Gyros flavours our customers know and love? Done deal! The choice is entirely yours.

I’ve been meaning to do this one for a while because it’s a firm favourite in our household!

It’s packed with juicy fajita-style chicken thighs, rich refried beans, fresh homemade salsa, jalapeño and lime mayo, and topped with crunchy tortilla chips—all served in our homemade soft bread. (Everything’s homemade apart from the tortilla chips!).

🥪 THE REST OF THE FRIDAY LINEUP:

🐷 The Traditional Pork: Packed with our juicy slow-cooked pork, homemade apple and sage sausagemeat stuffing, apple sauce AND a wedge of Yorkshire pud, smothered in our rich pork gravy. Total comfort food.

It’s marinating right now, so expect a proper spicy kick of shredded chicken thighs, balanced out with crisp island-style slaw, a creamy lime and toasted coconut mayo and pineapple salsa. Summer in a sub (well, my homemade bread!) and soooo tasty!

The Italian Meat Feast makes its welcome return tomorrow! We’re stacking it with Prosciutto, Pepperoni, and Italian salamis, smothered in homemade marinara, melted Mozzarella and Provolone. This time we’re serving it with garlic mini-roasts, fresh basil, Italian leaf and a chopped olive salad. 🌿

🎄 Christmas has come early!

🦃 The Turkey Feast: Tender turkey, pigs in blankets, mini rosemary roasts, pork and apricot stuffing, a Yorkshire pudding wedge and homemade turkey gravy.

✨ New Arrival: "Bridie’s Brisket"
Named after my daughter, Bridie, who concocted this up while home over Easter! It’s simple but oh so tasty: Our signature slow-cooked brisket, tangy pickles, crispy onions, and our punchy roasted garlic mayo.

🔥 The BBQ Pulled Pork
We’ve tweaked the prep this week—it’s been slow-cooked directly in the sauce for extra tenderness and depth, served with all your favourite trimmings.

I’m not normally one for oversharing my private life on here but after my lovely dad passed away last Friday, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting.

The truth is, without my dad, The Corner Kitchen simply wouldn’t exist. When I first bought the premises on Nares Street back in 2015, it was a pretty run-down shop. Even in his 70s, Dad was right in there renovating the building, with me making bacon sarnies or his favourite cheese on toast on demand!

What started as a place to live and store my vintage china and prep for Vintage Service event catering, eventually grew into the sandwich shop you see today.

While Dad couldn't apply his full TL Chapman-honed joinery skills to the final shop transformation, the lessons he taught me meant I could tackle almost everything myself.

This week, I want to honour my dad, Peter Bayes, for everything he did for me—not just in bricks and mortar, but throughout my life. I am so proud to have had him as my dad.

Me and my family are celebrating a life very well lived and the Scarborough angling community is mourning one of its best 🎣

We are open as normal tomorrow and would love to see you. Please see the slightly scaled down menu attached, but it does include the return of the popular Chicken Kiev Mega Melt 🥳 and the Porchetta-style Pork is slow-cooking as I write this!
