** our prediction for tonight poem **

The Chequer Inn was packed that night,
With pints held proudly, spirits bright.
From Steyning town the voices rang,
As every England fan soon sang.

The first to strike was Bellingham,
Who curled one in... "Go on, my son!"
The pub erupted, beer took flight,
Poor Barry's shirt stayed soaked all night!

Then Harry Kane, so cool, so neat,
Sent Argentina to defeat.
A thunderbolt into the net—
The loudest cheer we've heard yet!

Old Messi tried his tricks and flair,
But found no magic waiting there.
One silly tackle, one more moan...
The ref just reached into the zone.

A red card flashed up to the sky,
Messi could only wave goodbye.
He shrugged, he sighed, he stomped away...
"Taxi for Lionel!" fans would say.

The Buds were flowing, Coronas too,
Six for a bucket—that would do!
The bar staff smiled through all the din,
What a night at the Chequer Inn!

The final whistle filled the air,
With songs and dancing everywhere.
"Football's coming home!" they cried,
With Steyning bursting full of pride.
