What are you doing for food before the match tonight?

What about a lovely relaxed meal with us before the madness starts.

We are open from noon today for food and drinks - think calm before the storm.

And for those who want to escape the footy - we know not everyone is interested - we will be open for dinner as normal right until last food orders at 9pm tonight. No screens, no screams …just an oasis of Mediterranean bliss.

The weather forecast is good so our terrace and courtyard will both be open just to add to the peaceful summer ambience.

And after …. well, most pubs in town appear to be showing the game ( although many require pre booking) but others will be football free zones…. Including our lovely neighbour Cafe Cocktail who have a 2:4:1 offer ( 8pm - 10pm) on especially for those seeking soccer free solace tonight!

Are you a CV37 resident? If so, why not take advantage this brilliant FREE offer from Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust ….we have lots of local customers who make it a regular habit to visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace (2mins walk from us) or New Place (5 mins walk from us) and then pop to us for lunch at the same time. It’s a beautiful ( and cost effective) day out on your doorstep.

Not sure what to do tonight (Monday) with no football or tennis…

How about a lovely meal sat in the sunshine on our terrace or in the courtyard if you prefer….followed by a leisurely walk down to the Bancroft to see some quintessential English summer entertainment from our wonderful Morris dancers who are performing there tonight from 8pm….. and maybe pop into our friends at Hoorays to grab an ice cream on the way…. Today is their first summer evening late opening.

A perfect summers evening!

Last week of school….

Teachers - get your team together one evening this week to celebrate making it to the end of the school year!

Parents - this is your last chance to grab a nice quiet lunch without the kids and sort your “war plan” for the holidays!

Graduates - well done - time to get the wider family together to celebrate and update them on your plans for the future …before the job hunt proper starts!

So ends the lesson for today!

We know….. today (sat) is all about a certain football match tonight for many …. but there is still time to get up a do other things before kick off….and there is another major sporting event scheduled for today (and we don’t mean the Wimbledon’s Ladies Final) and it’s here on our doorstep… Stratford upon Avon Boat Club’s Annual Fun Regatta is on the river until 3pm .

And if all that sounds like too much like hard work what about a gin or rum cruise by Shakespeare Distillery this afternoon🍸🍸🍸 or maybe just enjoy a traditional river cruise or take out a rowing boat.

However, if you prefer your drama on dry land then you are spoilt for choice:

- last night saw the opening night of the much anticipated Cherry Orchard with Kenneth Branagh and Helen Hunt at the RST. 🍒🍒🍒

- Shakers continues at The Attic Theatre 🍹🍹🍹 today and tomorrow

- Midsummers Night Dream is at The Other Place 🌓🌓🌓 with two performances today

- It’s the last night of The Morality of Mrs Dulska ( joint uk/ Polish production 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱) at The Bear Pit Theatre tonight.

- there are at least 8 different films at Everyman this weekend. 🎬🎬🎬 and The Bear Pit is screening KES and H for Hawk on Sunday.

But of course the real focus for many this weekend will be the sport with Wimbledon 🎾🎾🎾finals on both days and that certain football ⚽️⚽️⚽️match tonight.

Many of the pubs in town are showing the match but be advised some are requiring bookings. Some also have live music earlier on in the evening.

And talking of music Coventry Salvation Army Band are performing on The Bandstand on the Rec on Sunday along with a special Songs of Praise Service. 🎶🎶🎶

And if you need a drama fix tomorrow after the big match then Stratford racecourse 🏇🏇🏇is hosting one of its biggest events of the year tomorrow with its annual family race day with a full race card and a host of family friendly activities.

Too hot and bothered to cook tonight? Or maybe you’re still recovering from that football all nighter! Let us take the heat off and cook for you.

We are serving dinner until 9pm and have tables available inside or outside on the terrace or in The Minories Courtyard. The temperature has finally dropped and there is a lovely breeze so it is lovely out there. You really could be in Greece ….so you might as well eat like a Greek!

Popular dishes tonight already seem to be the great Greek classic of Moussaka served with Greek salad and oregano chips or Chicken Souvlaki (grilled) with salad and rice or new potatoes.

Followed by Greek yoghurt with honey and fruit or chilled lemon cheesecake with clotted cream ice cream.

But we have a whole lot more on offer to suit every taste and budget.

And to wash it down what about some cold beer or chilled wine?

Come down and we promise a great Greek welcome and amazing Greek food.

Yamas!
