This is one of our most difficult decisions. We have decided not to reopen our cherished tearoom. It's hard to believe this would have been our 7th year already.
The time has flown by. Our loyal customers have become friends. From our very busy first years where we peaked at 9 staff members and 80 covers, to a decline after COVID due to our customer base being 80 % tourists. Despite an increase in local customers we had to downsize. The extra work has taken a toll on the health of the remaining staff. Many thousands of homemade scones, cakes and all the onsite cooking and serving has been fulfilling but exhausting.
So much fun and laughter was had especially with our murder mystery evenings and other celebrations and parties. Thank you to those who were a part of it.
Our tearoom was used for the filming of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. What an amazing experience that was.
We also had the honour of being asked to be the venue for a number of wakes where families said one final goodbye and toast to their loved ones. Thank you for this honour.
One final thank you to our regular and loyal customers. We are not sure if your butler Richard will serve you as customers again, but maybe after his foot operation, at least, as friends. Goodbye for now, with a few tears in our eyes-we will miss you.
