Please see the below link for full details on Phil’s funeral on Friday 17th July at 1:30pm at Priory Church, Dunstable. There is also the option to donate to Phil’s chosen charity, Appledown Rescue & Rehoming Kennels rather than bringing flowers on the day. This is where we got our jazz for those who met her and I hope they’re keeping one another company again now. 🐾

We also ask on the day that you wear some colour.. this was specifically one of Phil’s requests and we know how much he loved his bright shirts!

Dedicated to the memory of Philip Belding

Funeral announcement for my husband, our dearly missed Phil Belding ❤️

For those who have asked and for anyone who would like to know Phil’s funeral will be held on Friday 17th July at The Priory Church of St Peter, Church Street, Dunstable, BEDS, LU5 4RU at 1:30pm.

Then those who would like to head on to the wake at The Bell in Studham, please feel free to do so, our doors will be open for you. Family along with Phil’s nearest and dearest will attend Oakfield Gardens Crematorium, Fordfield Road, Bedford, MK45 1AD following the service at Priory Church.

We will then join everyone else back at The Bell to raise a glass to a very much loved Husband, Father, Grumps, Friend and Landlord.

If you need any further information please don’t hesitate to drop me or Charlie a message.

Despite Phil’s love for a bright shirt, he wasn’t very big in to flowers (unless he was buying them for myself and in fact it was the last thing he bought me) so we would like to offer the chance for friends and family to donate to a chosen charity in his memory instead. Details for this will follow next week.

Hi, i just wanted to give a couple of updates...
It's taken me a few days to feel up to posting this and I never imagined I'd be doing this so soon but as many know already, we sadly lost Phil (Belding) on Saturday 20th June. To me...my Philly, my husband and my best friend.

We arrived here at The Bell 22 years ago and thankfully have met so many people and created so many memories.
At this sad time, I will do my upmost to continue to keep things as they have been with the help of a great team like we have done over the past year. Thank you to them.
We will of course miss those bright hawaian shirts and that smiling on the inside face but... thank him for the delicious recipes, his home made pies and gravy and being ready to fix something most days. Not to mention needing to find now a willing new recruit to go out in all weathers to tackle those outside Xmas trees!

In the last 2 years, Phil fought his diagnosis with lung cancer then secondary brain tumours courageously. Right up until the end he remained optimistic often having to deal with numerous challenges. It was particularly sad when he could no longer come home after his final stay in hospital as the steep stairs in our old pub were too much for him and not viable for ambulance crews to help him, so we were separated as he was moved into a local care home. To whom I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks for the kindness and care they showed Phil and us and friends who spent these last weeks/month visiting him.

We were just hoping we would simply have more time...
He was once the youngest landlord in the country and over the years one of the longest standing landlords in the area but sadly 'time has been rung'...
But in the time we did have, he was a very proud father figure and a cheeky Grumps which gave him some of his happiest times.
Being at The Bell in Studham gave us challenges, well in 22 years it would, with highs & lows but he was so proud of the many awards we won: Runner up nationally and Best pub in the County amongst others but just sharing our little gem of a pub with so many made him even prouder and I'd like to thank you for your support and those 'good times'!

So finally, I'd just like to say Thank you to him and thank him for being in our lives. Life was simply better with him in it...
