The Anchorage is closing

September marks 5 years since we moved up from England and took over the Anchorage. We’ve had some success and massive changes in our lives; we survived two lockdowns and various hospitality regulations, bringing our newborn daughter home to the flat upstairs in the midst of it all. We’ve had some wonderful feedback on the restaurant and our food.

We’ve worked really hard, but the last couple of years have been difficult. Costs have risen, we’ve suffered bereavement and missed out on time spent as a family in order to make things work. It’s time now for us to stop and try something different. For our mental health and the good of our family. We’re so sorry and understand that this may come as a disappointment to the Tarbert community. We hope someone else with the time and energy can make the Anchorage as special to them as it has been to us.

We want to thank all our customers over the years, especially our locals who have shown us great loyalty and friendship. Also thanks to all our suppliers for their patience, advice and support. Most especially our staff - Laura, Dugald, Charlie, Jean and everyone else who has been with us through the years. You’re all amazing and we couldn’t have opened one week without you.

Our last night of opening will be Saturday 31st August. If you had a booking for after that date, we have contacted you already to let you know.

This decision has by no means been taken lightly. We thank everyone for their understanding.

Fancy a little something on the side?! Have you looked at our sides menu recently?

All made freshly in-house, we have this yummy Potato Dauphinoise, or Mallorcan Tumbet, a potato and Mediterranean vegetable dish cooked with tomatoes, olive oil and garlic, or maybe a green salad, crusty bread and Alioli or truffle parmesan chips are a little more up your street?

Rather than just formal starters and mains we want you to order how YOU want, hence why we put small plates and large plates on our menu. If you want to order a small plate and a couple of sides, or lots of different plates and sides to share, go right ahead!

But don’t miss the potato dauphinoise… did we mention, it’s yummy!! 😋

Want to join our friendly little team?

We’re looking for someone to work a couple of shifts front of house each week. You’ll start about 5pm and work until about 10pm. We offer good rates of pay and tips are shared equally after every shift.

Hospitality or retail experience of any kind would be a bonus, but confidence and able to work on your own and as part of a team are essential.

We pride ourselves in our team and have been really lucky in the loyalty they’ve shown us over the years. If that sounds like something you want to be a part of, drop us a message 😊
