Five years have flown by ✈️

Tomorrow circle is 5 years old 🎉

It’s one of those moments where you look back and can hardly believe how far things have come since those first days, weeks and months. What started as a tiny makers and plants shop doing coffee has slowly evolved, bit by bit, into something we’re incredibly proud of 🥹

Along the way, we’ve been fortunate enough to build a business that supports an amazing team, provides stable jobs and pensions, and creates a place where we get to spend our days alongside some of the kindest, most interesting people, many of whom we now consider friends.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far. You all know who you are ⭐️

We don’t know exactly what the next five years will bring, but that’s part of the excitement. What we do know is that we are as passionate as ever about what we do, the people we do it with, and the community we’re lucky enough to be part of.

Here’s to the next chapter. 📖

A fresh delivery from the bees 🐝

We’ve had a lovely restock of beeswax candles and, of course, honey from the very talented , who’s just up the road in the Blackdown Hills. Devin makes each candle using traditional methods, and the honey comes from bees living in the ancient meadows of Devon, and it tastes as good as you’d hope 🍯✨

We’re seriously excited to nerd out over the next few weeks, dialling everything in, refining techniques, and honestly just enjoying an absolutely beautiful piece of engineering.

as obsessed with coffee as we are—this machine is in a class of its own. We can’t wait to dive deeper, push boundaries, and keep chasing those perfect cups.

When you hear the name Circle, do you ever wonder where it came from? We’d love to share a little of the story behind it.

It began during lockdown. Fay was managing Exploding Bakery, and I was playing many gigs. Then everything stopped. We were both furloughed, with no clear idea of when things might return to normal.

With time suddenly on our hands, Fay rekindled her love of woodwork. She began making all sorts of beautiful pieces, and before long we were creating resin tables together. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much more meaningful.

After a few months, we began talking seriously about the future. With no gigs and furlough stretching on indefinitely, we had what felt like a slightly mad idea to create a small pocket of coffee/creativity in an area we grew up very close to. We viewed the property, something just clicked, It was scary… but it felt right.

Once we secured the lease, we threw ourselves into designing the space. With our shared love of woodwork, there was only one place to go for materials and inspiration

It’s one of the most wholesome, friendly and fair places to find some of the finest timber in the area. Bill, who owns it, is always ready to help source the perfect piece, plane it, sand it, and cut it to size. Every visit leaves us smiling while driving home with beautiful wood and that warm feeling you get from supporting genuinely good people. Five years ago, it’s where we found the timber for our countertop and all the other shelves etc. a local carpenter smashed the install!!

Today, we’re back again grabbing another stunning piece to craft a new table for the shop.

Wherever we can, we really try to keep it local, supporting incredible businesses, makers and craftspeople. So much of has been built using materials sourced directly from this wonderful sawmill.

If you get the chance, go and experience it for yourself. Slow down, take in the atmosphere, admire the grain, and support businesses like this whenever you can. They’re what make our area so special and such a wonderful place to live. Keep it local, keep it circular

Were wishing away those grey January days with a little splash of summer in the shop 🌞🌿
We’ve just taken delivery of some gorgeous new plants and spent the day bringing all the holiday vibes to the fireplace — plant delivery day is definitely one of our favourites!
We’ve also loved welcoming our local furry friends, spotting Circle in the Southwest Coffee Guide amongst some other incredible local cafés. And as always, enjoying some great chats with familiar faces during these quieter January days.

We’re open every day, and so grateful to everyone who keeps us and the team busy — thank you for all the lovely conversations and support 🤍

With Christmas just around the corner, we wanted to share a few festive updates — including our opening hours over the holiday period.
