The King's Head has always played an important part in the history of Wellesbourne. Originally known as The Wellsbourne Inn in the 1600s, the King's Head was used as a hospital during the English Civil War. During the Second World War, we played host to the RAF pilots and ground crews from near by Wellsbourne airfield. Accommodation with character:

Our nine bedroom Innkeeper's Lodge continues tradition of welcoming travellers. It's our local charm that attracts office staff and ramblers, as well as diners and drinkers from Wellesbourne and nearby Charlecote, Newbold Pacey and Moreton Morrell. We also welcome business and leisure travellers to enjoy some of the best bedrooms and accommodation in Wellesbourne. Close to Stratford-upon-Avon and the National Trust's Charlecote Park, The King's Head has history written through every brick and beam. Originally The Wellsbourne Inn, it became The King's Head during the English Civil War.

This week, we’re introducing Neil, our Head Chef, who has been part of the team for the past 5 years.

Recently, our kitchen was proud to be awarded Best Kitchen for the first two months since the award was introduced. It’s an achievement that reflects the hard work, commitment and teamwork of everyone in the kitchen.

A huge well done to the whole team on a well-deserved achievement! 🏆👏

As Head Chef, Neil is proud to be part of a team that consistently works together to deliver high standards every day.

A true legend in his own right, Matt has been at the heart of the Kings Head for three decades. Known for his kindness, warmth, and friendly smile, he’s welcomed generations of guests through our doors. In fact, he probably knows your order and has your drink poured before you’ve even made it to the bar!

Matt, thank you for 30 years of hard work, dedication, laughter, and unforgettable service. The Kings Head simply wouldn’t be the same without you. We’re incredibly lucky to have you as part of our family.
