Ever wondered where our fresh haddock comes from before it lands in your tray?
Meet Billingsgate, the Uk’s largest inland fish market located in Canary Wharf 📍🐠
The market handles around 25,000 tonnes of seafood each year. Roughly two-fifths of the products sold originate from overseas, while the remainder is supplied by fisheries around the United Kingdom. The market plays a significant role in the national seafood trade, distributing a wide variety of fish and seafood products.
Seafood arrives at Billingsgate from ports across the UK, with most deliveries transported by road from coastal areas. To ensure freshness, shipments are delivered during the early hours of the morning, allowing traders to begin business with freshly landed produce at around 4am.
So next time you’re thinking of ordering haddock, you’ll know it’s travelled from one of the UK’s most famous fish markets✈️
We do the frying, Billingsgate does the supplying… it’s a pretty tasty partnership😋
