A Little Update from Niche 💚

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Niche will be closed tomorrow (TUESDAY) as usual.

The exciting news is that, from Wednesday onwards, we will have a second fryer dedicated exclusively to foods containing gluten. This means our new fryer can be used solely for gluten-free items, allowing us to safely offer gluten-free chips and hash browns without the risk of cross-contamination.

This is something I have wanted to introduce for quite some time, and I’m absolutely delighted that we can finally make it happen. As someone who understands how important safe and inclusive dining options are, I’m thrilled that we can now offer even more choices to our gluten-free customers.

Thank you all for your continued support, patience and encouragement as we continue to improve and grow. We can’t wait to welcome you back on Wednesday and serve up some delicious gluten-free chips! 🍟

A Huge Thank You ❤️

Over the past couple of weeks, we Niche have faced some unexpected challenges that, at first, seemed quite daunting. However, what could have been a difficult time has instead become a truly rewarding and positive experience, thanks to the incredible people around us.

To my amazing team – thank you for your hard work, dedication, positivity, and unwavering support. You have shown resilience, kindness, flexibility, and professionalism every single day, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.

To our wonderful customers and community – thank you for your patience, encouragement, understanding, and countless acts of kindness. Many of you started as customers but have become friends for life. Time and time again, you have stepped up and stepped in wherever you could to help keep things running smoothly, whether that was offering practical help, words of encouragement, or simply being there when we needed you most.

The support you have shown us has been overwhelming in the very best way. It is easy to say that we have wonderful customers, but what we have at Niche feels like so much more than that. We have a community of genuinely caring people who look out for one another, and that is something very special.

Running a small independent cafe is never just about serving food and drinks; it’s about people, relationships, and community. The way our community has rallied around us (me and our team) over the past few weeks has been truly humbling and a reminder of just how fortunate we are.

I am incredibly grateful to each and every one of you and immensely proud of our team. What seemed like a daunting challenge on the surface has shown us just how strong, supportive, and special our Niche family really is.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing beside us, believing in us, and helping us move forward with positivity, confidence, and a smile.

Chef Required – Niche Cafe, Wells

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic Chef to join our team in the heart of Wells.

This role is daytime operation only and currently 5 days per week, including weekends. Our cafe is open from 9am to 4pm weekdays and 5:30 Saturdays with chefs usually finishing by approximately 4 - 4.30pm.

We are looking for someone who:

• Works well as part of a team but is also confident working independently during quieter periods.• Is organised, reliable and enjoys working in a busy cafe environment.• Has a passion for fresh, homemade food and takes pride in presentation and quality.• Can use their initiative to help create seasonal menus and daily specials.• Is comfortable managing kitchen responsibilities, including ordering, stock control and maintaining food safety documentation.• Has previous cooking experience.

I am really sorry but we will no longer be able to launch the evening small plates offering that we had planned.

Due to some unexpected changes within the business, I have had to make the difficult decision to focus all of my time and resources on our daytime cafe service. As a result, I simply don’t have the capacity to deliver the evening experience to the standard that our customers deserve.

I know many of you were looking forward to it, and I am genuinely sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and loyalty. Right now, my priority is ensuring that Niche continues to provide the great food, drinks, and service that you know and love during our regular opening hours. We will stay open later some evening during the summer months for drinks.

A little note from us at Niche 💚

We’re so grateful for the lovely community that fills our cafe every day — it really means the world to us.

We just wanted to gently explain one of our important house rules, as it comes from a place of care.

We are a nut-free cafe, created to be a safe space for those living with severe anaphylaxis allergies. For some, even the tiniest trace of nut protein can cause a life-threatening reaction.

Because of this, we kindly ask that only food and drinks purchased from Niche are consumed at our tables. This helps us keep the environment as safe as possible for everyone — our customers, our team, and our families.

We completely understand that this might not always be obvious, and we never want anyone to feel uncomfortable. But if we do need to remind you of this, please know it’s coming from a place of genuine care and responsibility.
