Dearest readers & darlings…

Our afternoon tea is quite the crowd-pleaser, with the choice of sweet or savoury delights to tempt every palate.

And should you wish to truly “push the train out”, why not add a glass of fizz… or perhaps an entire bottle? After all, one simply must indulge from time to time.

Served every Saturday aboard our beautiful vintage carriages in West Bay, Dorset.

Whilst we are fully booked for both lunch and dinner today, why not make your next Sunday one to remember?

Join us for what many say is the best Sunday roast around… featuring grass-fed beef, crispy roasties, seasonal vegetables, the biggest Yorkshire puddings you’ll find outside Yorkshire and, of course, lashings of proper gravy!

Everything is freshly prepared and served aboard our beautiful vintage railway carriages in the heart of West Bay, Dorset.

A little bit of history. 🚂🚂

West Bay station in Dorset was opened in 1884 by the Great Western Railway as the terminus of the Bridport branch line, the name chosen specifically to encourage holiday traffic to the coast, though the line was plagued by closures and reopenings throughout its troubled history.

Passenger services were withdrawn in 1930 and the line continued as a goods-only route until final closure in 1962, with the station spending several decades afterwards serving as a boat yard office before being restored in 1995 with a short length of track reinstated at the platform.

The station building and two restored vintage railway carriages now house Platform Restaurant, a multi-award winning dining venue which has held two AA rosettes and been voted Best Restaurant in Dorset on multiple occasions, serving locally landed seafood and Dorset produce in one of the county's most unusual settings.

One carriage, named Brunel, dates to 1911 and served as a hospital coach during the First World War, while the other, named Beeching after the man whose cuts ultimately closed lines like this one, was built in 1958, a fittingly ironic tribute in a building that owes its survival to outlasting his legacy.

Our award-winning à la carte menu will be available, alongside our ever-popular ‘Pub on the Platform’ lunch menu, running Thursday to Saturday at lunchtime. Proper pub classics, delicious food and plenty of cosy carriage vibes!

Saturday Afternoon Tea
Fancy something a little special? Join us for one of our delectable afternoon teas. Choose between our traditional sweet afternoon tea or our savoury version – the choice is yours!

Sunday
The best roast for miles… and yes, we stand by that! Served until 7pm, alongside our chef’s specials, our traditional Sunday lunches are guaranteed to make your weekend complete.

🔎 Murder Mystery Evenings
Our events are filling up fast, with the next one taking place on Friday 29th September. If you fancy a night of intrigue, laughter and great food, check out the website and book your tickets before they’re gone!

🎄 Christmas Day
We know it’s only June… but Christmas Day bookings are already filling up! If you want a festive celebration to remember, we’d love to welcome you aboard. Menus will be released soon, so secure your table early.

Whatever the weather, we’ll keep the carriages warm, the cocktails flowing and the food delicious.

Yesterday we celebrated the lovely Abby’s birthday!
