For more than forty years, Daniel has been part of life at Sturts Farm.

From working the land with a horse and cart in the early 1980s to becoming a trusted and valued member of our dairy team today, his story is one of dedication, knowledge and pride in a job done well.

Daniel is someone others naturally look to for guidance. He supports newer members of the team, shares the skills he has built over decades and brings a calm, steady presence to the milking parlour every day.

His leadership is not loud. It is found in the advice shared with colleagues, the encouragement given when someone is learning, and the example he continues to set through his own work.

As part of the team behind our Great Taste 2-Star Award-winning milk, Daniel’s contribution can be seen not only in the quality of what we produce, but in the confidence, skills and sense of belonging he helps others to build.

Daniel’s story is about far more than how long he has worked at Sturts. It is about purpose, contribution and the difference one person can make by turning up each day with care, commitment and pride.

We are incredibly grateful to have him as part of our community.

The eggs you’ll find in our farm shop begin their journey right here on our farm. 🥚🌿

Our biodynamically farmed hens are cared for each day by our Hen Team, including the adults we support, who play an important role in every part of their routine. From feeding and refreshing water to cleaning the hen houses, replacing bedding and carrying out welfare checks, there is a great deal of care behind every egg collected.

Once gathered, the eggs are carefully inspected, sorted and prepared before making their way into the farm shop. It means the box you pick up from our shelves has travelled only a short distance, while supporting good farming, high standards of animal welfare and meaningful roles within our community.

From our hens, to our team, to your table. 💛

We caught up with Ken, one of the West Moors Classic Car Show organisers, for a chat with Dylan and Gemma! 🎤🚙

We’re so excited to welcome back many of the beautiful classic cars we’ve seen last year, as well as some fantastic new vehicles making their first appearance at the show 🚙✨

We can’t wait to see this year’s incredible lineup and, of course, find out who will be taking home the prizes! 🏆

See you at the West Moors Classic Car Show! 🩵

James has learnt so much during his time in the Gullivers kitchen, but one achievement stands out in particular: becoming a brilliant barista. ☕️

From learning how to make coffees for the first time to now confidently preparing every drink on the menu, James is incredibly proud of how far he has come- and so are we.
He loves being part of the Farm Shop team, working alongside Kirsty and the other staff, spotting the jobs that need doing and continuing to build his confidence with customers. When we asked how working at Gullivers makes him feel, his answer was simple: excited and happy.

James is already looking ahead to what he can learn next, but for now, we think “pro barista” suits him perfectly. 👏

At Gullivers, so much of what happens each day is built on trust, consistency and the relationships formed between the people we support and the teams working alongside them.

Matt is one of our Workshop Coordinators, leading and supporting our poultry and pig teams. His role is about far more than teaching practical farming skills. It is about providing a calm, dependable presence, helping companions feel secure enough to try something new, take on greater responsibility and recognise what they are capable of.

Whether he is demonstrating a task, offering reassurance through a difficult day or stepping back so someone can complete a job independently, Matt brings patience, guidance and trust to everything he does.

Across the poultry and pig teams, companions work alongside Matt on feeding routines, animal welfare checks, preparing pens, maintaining equipment and monitoring livestock health. Every task has a purpose, and every task creates an opportunity to build skills, confidence and pride.

The impact of good support is often found in the quieter moments: completing a task independently for the first time, developing confidence within a team or simply feeling proud of a job well done.

Through the relationships he has built and the steady support he provides, Matt plays an important role in helping companions grow, achieve and flourish both at Gullivers and beyond.

When Elisa first arrived at Gullivers, almost everything was new: a new country, a new language, new people and an entirely different way of living and working.

It was a big step and, at times, an overwhelming one. But over the past year, Elisa has grown in confidence, built meaningful relationships and become an important part of our Farm Shop and Kitchen team.

For Elisa, life-sharing is about being there for one another. It means supporting companions when they are having a difficult day, while also recognising the care, friendship and encouragement they offer in return.

One relationship that has become particularly special is the one she shares with James. Working patiently alongside him, Elisa encouraged James to practise making coffees step by step- beginning with espresso shots before moving on to steaming the milk. Today, he can complete much of the process independently and proudly carry his own coffees out to customers.

“At the Farm Shop, I never get bored because there is always something to do. I especially enjoy completing jobs together with companions. Sometimes it takes a little convincing, but in the end, they are proud of themselves.”

Thank you, Elisa, for the patience, encouragement and genuine care you bring to Gullivers each day. Your journey is a wonderful reminder that when we live, learn and work alongside one another, everyone has the opportunity to grow.

From milking cows by hand to making coffees behind the counter, Simon has been at the heart of Sturts for more than 30 years. 🤍

In his early days on the farm, Simon took on the important responsibility of milking our cows each morning- long before modern machinery made the job easier. It was a role that required patience, care and real commitment, and one that Simon became incredibly skilled at.
Years later, ready for a new challenge, Simon moved into Gullivers Farm Shop & Kitchen and began training as a barista. Learning something new takes time, encouragement and plenty of practice, but Simon’s dedication has never wavered. Today, he proudly prepares cappuccinos, lattes and flat whites, works on the till, supports our kitchen team and greets customers with a smile.

Simon’s journey is a wonderful example of what can happen when people are given meaningful opportunities, the right support and the confidence to keep learning. Every coffee made and every new skill developed represents another step in a story more than three decades in the making.

Next time you visit, keep an eye out for Simon behind the coffee machine!
