We've been telling our friends about it for years and finally got a few of them over today. They came away feeling just as we always do; nourished and well fed, and very well looked after by David and his team.
We filled our boots on glorious Suffolk pork with perfect crackling, blushing pink Suffolk beet, devilled kidneys, venison, mushroom and ale pie, duck in orange, and a superlative tender braised rabbit in prunes and cider.
Loading our plates with yorkies, fresh veg and sticky, burnished roasties.
All followed by warm sunken chocolate pud, the booziest trifle (hic), caramel cheesecake, warm lemon pud with lemon curd ice cream, and marmalade bread and butter pudding.
Such a treat. Please please please seek it out if you haven't been before.
It's a proper Suffolk treasure. Bookings recommended as it's incredibly popular. Serving lunchtimes Friday-Sunday.
We will definitely have to take back the pals who couldn't make it this time (and the others from today really won't take much convincing!).
